After a motorbike accident, Brian Kinney, a 30-year-old successful ad executive and a motorcycle rider, suffers a near fatal head injury.

Once a rising star of the advertising circuit and a prominent figure in Pittsburgh's gay night, Brian is discharged from the hospital and admitted into a rehabilitation facility.  While in rehab Brian meets staff member Justin Taylor, a young therapist who's a neuro-injury survivor himself unbeknownst to Brian.  With Justin's guidance, Brian embarks on journey of self discovery that will reveal more than he ever expected to learn.

Written for qaf_giftxchnge 2018 on LJ, although this one is not, per se, a Christmas story.

So here it is.  It's set maybe 2 years post 513.  Justin returned from New York about 12 months ago, but they sold Britin and have been living at the loft.  Justin rents studio space.

WARNING: Very mild (for me, at least) snark about Michael.

This was written for the "37 Days of Gusmas" challenge. This was a fund-raising challenge to raise money for the Ali Forley Center which provides shelter for homeless GLBT kids.

In the Gusmas challenges there are 37 prompts - some words or phrases, some images - covering the days from Thanksgiving to New Year's Eve. The challenge is to write one or more drabbles based on the prompts.

I've cobbled together a story based on drabbles for each of the 37 prompts.

Justin’s new client is an arrogant prick, but he’s rich and has great taste. So who’s he to turn down the huge commission for his interior design?

It appears that Brian does do romance, even if some people don’t want to acknowledge it…

An alternate S5.  It starts in the same place, and ends more or less in the same place, it even covers a lot of the same plot points, but quite a few things get tweaked along the way into something that seemed to me more true to the characters as I understand them (especially, of course, Brian and Justin).

He's so afraid that someone will finish what Hobbs began that he's unwilling to let anyone in to see him and constantly paranoid that death is waiting for him around every corner. While Brian is desperate to make him better, he encourages Justin to pick up a hobby. Happy Halloween, everyone! It is time for me to offer your annual 'treat' for the holiday. This year I decided to give you another adult 'fairy' tale. This is my version of the 'Little Red Riding Hood' story. I hope you will enjoy it. I promise there are no mean 'tricks' waiting for you.

This story started off as a ‘what if’ ... what if Brian hadn’t met Justin until sometime in Season Three?  Which things would be different and which would be the same ... or brought about in a different way?  How would Brian be different?  Would he be better, or would he be worse?  Would he still react to Justin in the same way if they were both a couple of years older?

Anyway, that was how it started; but then I had to supply a background for Justin that was canon to begin with, but ended up being quite different ... and then the whole thing turned into a kind of thriller.  Well, I hope it did.

So I guess this is part what-if, part AU, part thriller ... but most of all, of course, a love story.

The other day I was watching an ad for a new animated film called 'Tangled'.  It was another version of the very old fairy tale, Rapunzel.  For some inexplicable reason I had this sudden vision of Justin locked in a tower and his own Prince Charming (Brian) coming to his rescue.  I couldn't get the image out of my head so, my friends, I simply had to write my own 'fairy' tale for our beloved boys.  I sincerely hope you will enjoy it.  I must thank my beloved Judy for her skilled beta work.

Just when he thinks he has it all figured out, the man of his dreams, and acceptance into the school of his dreams, something happens that forces him to re-evaluate his entire life. Unfortunately, Justin finds out that there are worse things than a bat to the head.

Living in the UK, we've only had S1 here, so I've had to keep up by buying the DVD's and reading as much as I can! Well, S3 arrived yesterday! I managed to watch the first two episodes last night and cried throughout 301 and a good part of 302! And seeing how Brian (looking more beautiful than ever, if that's possible) is so lost without Justin, still refusing to admit how he feels and yet his every action screams otherwise. The same actions that should have told Justin how much Brian loved him, even if he couldn't say those pretty words. Everyone's bad-mouthing him, but woe-betide anyone bad-mouthing Justin! Even leading to Brian hitting his best friend; the first time they've ever fought. And the end of 302; seeing Brian dancing by himself in the middle of the crowded dance floor, lost in the music, or whatever chemical substance he's taken in order to get through, is heartbreaking. Subsequently, I got up at 00.45am this morning in order to put this down on paper. It's not very long (not as long as this preamble!), but I hope you like it.

I was inspired by an old song of a favorite group of mine from the past named Peaches and Herb.  The words of this song made me think of how our boys would feel after being separated for a whole month....Justin in New York and Brian in the Pitts.  Hope you enjoy their thoughts as they work it all out.  I owe a debt of gratitude to Eka for the banner and Pat for her beta skills.  Thank you so much girls.

Post 513) Brian and Justin begin a new chapter in their lives. I'm affectionately calling this the lost episodes of Season 5.

Justin has finally convinced Brian to take a real vacation and they head for Europe.  They fly into Paris and then decide to take a road trip from Paris to Rome.  Of course, not everything runs smoothly for our intrepid travelers...as usual.  Many thanks to Pat for her beta work and Eka for the adorable banner.
