Michael was running around the baby store trying to find Justin. Once he spotted him, he ran towards the teen. “Look what I found.” Michael told him, showing him a baby shirt. Justin put the stuffed bear back on the rack and turned towards Michael. “Are these really my relatives?” Justin read out loud before he laughed. “What do you think?” Michael asked. “You are not going to buy that.” Justin told him. “Are you crazy? Brian wouldn’t like hearing that…as funny as it is for us, I don’t think he’d find the humor of it.” Michael looked at the shirt and frowned. “He told you about his childhood?” Michael asked as he put the shirt away. Justin nodded. “I couldn’t stop crying.” Justin told him. “But I guess it has to do with the pregnancy. When Brian found out I was pregnant, I couldn’t stop crying then either. Or when I remembered that it was two more weeks until I started classes. God, I don’t even know how I’m supposed to hide that I’m pregnant.” Michael smiled and put his arm around Justin’s shoulder. “Then don’t.” Michael told him. “Then everyone would know that I’m pregnant and Brian would definitely freak out.” Justin said, walking with Michael down the aisle. “He is going to tell everyone tomorrow night what’s going on.” Michael told him. “People are going to drop dead when they hear him.” Justin smiled from ear to ear. “I don’t care what other people might think.” Justin told him. “He cares what other people think even if he says he doesn’t.” Michael told him. “I guess he just needed time to freak out about the whole situation. But he is a good guy and he is doing what’s right and at the same time what he wants” “He really wants to be with me?” Justin asked. “You know he loves you.” Justin smiled brightly. “Did he tell you that?” Justin asked. “No, Brian will deny everything. I know him. He’s my best friend and I know when he’s bullshitting me. But I know he’s crazy about you, Justin. I know because of the way he looks at you and the way he talks about you. I just know. It’s just a little hard for him to say the words. He had a rough childhood and he is scared of giving someone the power to hurt him.” Justin nodded understanding it. “I’m crazy for him too.” Justin said. “I would never hurt him.” Michael smiled. “What are we going to buy?” Michael asked. “Did you guys buy the baby’s crib yet? I want to see how his room turns out. This is going to be so great. Are you going to draw something in his room, because you know you can draw so well and it will be so cool.” “Michael.” Justin said. “We can make the theme ‘Superheroes’.” Michael told him. “Michael?” Justin said again. “What?” “I’m hungry. I want lemon bars. Can we get lemon bars? We can come back later.” Justin said. “Please.” Michael smiled and nodded. “I’ll call Ted and tell him about the change of plans.” Michael said. Justin nodded and went to see more stuffed animals. *** Brian tried Michael’s cell one more time but there was no answer. He made a mental note to buy Justin a cell phone. “Brian, the plane is boarding.” “Thanks, Cynthia. Give me a moment.” Brian told her. Cynthia nodded and walked away. “Hello?” “Emmett, it’s me, Brian.” Brian said, thankful that he had Emmett’s phone number in his cell. “Hey, it’s something wrong?” Emmett asked. “Look, I have to leave for New York and I can’t contact Mikey. It was a last minute thing. Can you tell him to call me later?” “Sure, no problem.” Emmett told him. “Thanks.” Brian told him and hung up. Brian took his carry on bag and walked behind Cynthia. He wished that he was with Justin, picking out things for the baby. Two weeks ago he had been at the hospital when Justin had gotten an ultrasound. He had been way too happy to care that the male technician doing the ultrasound seemed to like Justin a little too much. He had seen his son. Brian wanted to be with Justin to make sure that the blonde was okay. The nurse had said that Justin was too stressed and that it could affect the baby. It would only be three more months before it was all over, but Brian still worried. He wanted both of his boys to be okay. *** “Ted was looking at me funny.” Justin said. “Do you think he realized I’m pregnant?” Michael shook his head. “Are you sure?” Justin asked. Michael nodded as they entered the diner. He knew that his mother wasn’t working that day. “Do you want anything else?” Michael asked. “No.” Justin told him. Michael nodded and went to get Justin some lemon bars. Justin frowned when he felt a sharp pain in his lower back. He took a deep breath and tried to relax. Soon enough the pain was gone. “Hello, beautiful.” Ethan said. “Ethan.” Justin gasped. “What are you doing here?” “I wanted to see you. I thought you would be working.” Ethan told him. Justin shook his head. “I’m not working here anymore.” Justin said. Ethan nodded. “How you been?” Ethan asked him. “I’ve been okay.” Justin told him. “I have missed you.” Ethan told him. Justin stood there not knowing what to tell him. “Justin, here you go. Hi, I’m Michael. Who are you?” Michael asked. “I’m Ethan.” Ethan said. “Hi.” Michael said smiling at him. “Are you a friend of Justin’s?” Ethan nodded. Michael frowned and looked at Ethan more closely. He was sure he had seen the kid before. “Yeah.” Justin said. “Can I talk to you, Justin?” Ethan asked. “Not right now.” Justin said. Justin didn’t know what he wanted to tell Ethan. He was definitely freaking out. Plus he was having trouble breathing. “It will be quick. I promise. Come on.” Ethan told him. “Let’s go outside for a second.” “No, I have to go.” Justin gasped out. Ethan tried to pull Justin towards him when Michael got in the middle. “I think you should go.” Michael said. “I need to talk to him.” Ethan hissed. “You can’t.” Michael told him. “Fuck off.” Ethan growled. Justin took a deep breath and tried to keep his eyes open. He didn’t know what the hell was going on with him. “Ethan, just go.” Justin told him and gasped, feeling the pain again, but he toughed it out. “We’ll talk later.” “I want to talk to you now.” Ethan said. “Tough.” Michael told him, trying to walk away with Justin. Michael now remembered who Ethan was. Now it all made sense to him. Why Brian had been so mad at the guy that was in front of them now. He knew now why Brian had been so jealous, because the kid wanted to steal Justin away from him. “Please, Justin. I love you.” Ethan told him and caressed Justin’s face. Justin smiled and gently pushed Ethan’s hand away. “I’m sorry, Ethan. I can’t. I love Brian.” Justin told him. “I made a mistake.” Ethan closed his eyes and opened them quick. “So you were just using me to make him jealous?” Ethan asked pissed. “No.” Justin assured him. Justin started to breathe heavily and Michael was getting worried. “Maybe we should go.” Michael said. “So who is this really? Another friend to make Brian jealous?” Ethan asked a little upset. “Fuck you.” Justin hissed. “Oh god. Fuck! Michael!” Justin was holding his belly and would have fallen to the floor if it wasn’t for Michael and Ethan. “What’s wrong with him?” Ethan asked worried. “I need to take him to the hospital.” Michael looked around at the people staring at him. “Someone call an ambulance.” “My car is outside.” Ethan said. Michael took a deep breath and nodded. Brian was so going to kill him. *** Melanie and Lindsey arrived at the same time that Debbie and Vic did. The four of them were rushing to get to where the others were. Vic was worried sick knowing that something had happened to Justin and it involved the baby. He hoped that he was wrong. “Michael!” Debbie shouted. Michael got up from where he was sitting next to Emmett and Ted. Ethan had left awhile ago. Michael had explained to Ethan about Justin’s pregnancy and that Brian was the father. He had told him that if he didn’t leave, Brian would kill him and apparently Ethan had believed him because he left before anyone got there. “Hey, Ma.” “What happened with Justin?” Debbie asked. “Is he okay?” Vic asked worried. “We are waiting for the doctor to tell us what’s going on.” Ted said. “Oh my god. I hope he is okay.” Lindsey said. “Is it serious?” Melanie asked. “Excuse me?” Dr. Johnson said looking at the gang. “Are you all family with Justin Taylor?” Debbie nodded and walked up to them. “What is wrong with him?” Debbie asked. “He needs to rest. I told him that already. Can I speak with his parents or the father of the baby?” Dr. Johnson asked. “Pregnancy?” Debbie asked taking a step back. “He’s pregnant?” “You didn’t know?” Dr. Johnson asked. Dr. Johnson didn’t know what to say. Justin had told him that his parents knew he was pregnant and that the father also knew but always was too busy to come with him to the appointments. Then Miller, the ultrasound technician, had told him that he had met the father so he just assumed that everyone knew. “I knew. Is he going to be okay? Can I take him home?” Michael asked. “Are you the father?” Dr. Johnson asked. “No. I’m his friend.” Michael told the doctor. “He will have to stay for observation for a couple of days, then he can go home. You can go see him but don't stay too long. He needs to rest.” Dr. Johnson said. “When he goes home, he should relax and take it easy. He needs to be in a place where there is no yelling or stressful situations. I don’t want him doing anything that can cause him anxiety." Michael nodded and the doctor walked away. “Justin is pregnant?” Lindsey asked. “But he’s so young.” “Who is the father, Michael?” Debbie asked. “Is that why he was hiding?” “Justin is the only one that can answer that. I’m going to go see him now and I don’t want any of you asking him questions that could upset him. You heard the doctor. He needs to rest.” Michael told them. Debbie and Vic followed him. “Can you believe it?” Ted asked to no one in particular. “Do you think he’ll keep it?” Lindsey asked. “Why?” Emmett asked. “What if he doesn’t?” “We could take him.” Lindsey said. “What the hell are you talking about?” Ted asked. “We could adopt him. Justin is too young to know what to do with a baby.” Lindsey said. “Are you forgetting that there is some other guy mixed in this?” Ted pointed out. “I guess he did have someone special after all.” Emmett told them. “This guy probably knows and is going to help Justin. I don’t know.” “Honey, don’t torture yourself.” Melanie told her partner and hugged Lindsey. “We should go see that he is okay.” Emmett said getting up. The rest of the gang went into the room. Debbie and Vic were sitting down talking while Michael was pushing Justin’s hair back from his forehead. Justin saw them and smiled. “Hey guys.” “How you doing?” Lindsey asked. “I’m okay.” Justin said. Justin looked around, trying to find Brian. Michael saw him and smiled. “I have to call Brian.” Michael said excusing himself from the group. “He’s in New York.” Emmett said. Everyone turn to look at him. “He couldn’t reach you so he called me. He said he had to leave.” Emmett told him. “I guess he got one of those last minute meetings. You know how his boss is.” “That kid works so hard.” Debbie pointed out, shaking her head. “Just as well.” Melanie said. “The asshole wouldn’t care anyway since it doesn’t affect him.” Justin frowned but didn’t say anything. “You don’t know shit, Mel.” Michael told her. “Michael.” Justin said and Michael walked back towards Justin. “Don’t call him. I don’t want him to worry.” Justin whispered. “I’m okay. The doctor said so. I promise that I will take care of myself and if he finds out that I was in the hospital and you didn’t call him, I’ll take all the blame.” Michael frowned. “Are you sure?” Michael asked. Justin nodded. Vic pretended like he wasn’t listening to a thing. Vic was more surprised at Justin’s maturity, each day that passed. “How many months do you have?” Lindsey asked. “Almost six.” Justin told her, feeling a little worried that they were going to ask him a lot of questions. “How are you feeling?” Emmett asked. “Good.” Justin said. “Excuse me, but you guys are going to have to leave.” The nurse who came inside the room told them. “He has to rest.” After another half hour, they all said goodbye to Justin, giving him kisses and hugs. Justin was glad that nobody asked him about anything else. Michael promised that he was going to be there the next day. Debbie had to be pulled away from Justin. Justin was happy that he had people that cared for him. He got comfortable in the bed and wish that Brian was next to him.
