Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket I wake up and a doctor is there and I’m confused so I look around for something to tell me what’s going on and then I see him. The blond angel/devil who hasn’t left my mind for a moment since I met him and I truthfully am not sure whether I’m glad to see him or horrified. Justin is a hospital bed just like mine and even through the pain that is screaming through my shoulder, all I really want to know is if he is hurt. “What’s wrong with you, Jus?” “Nothing much, just slammed my chest against the steering wheel, but it’s you that you should be worried about. You look like you’re in a lot of pain.” “Yeah I am, but what the fuck happened and where the hell did you come from?” "Well, I came from my mother and I hit you with a car." “What the fuck? Why the hell did you hit me with a car?” “Fuck Brian, I didn’t say I meant to hit you. Umm, it just happened.” He paused and although I have no idea what that pause means, what I do know is that it’s nothing good. He is looking guilty and a little scared and I hate both looks on him, especially since I’ve seen the scared one before. Right then with that thought, it dawns on me what happened and although I have no evidence to support it, I have no doubt that I’m right. “That fucker Shane is behind this, isn’t he?” “Umm, yes.” “How?” “He slammed into the car I was in a couple of times and the last time he hit me, it sent me careening into you.” “Fuck, were you alone?” “No, Jamie, my mother, and one of my guards were there.” “Oh shit, are they alright?” “Yes, I guess just minor cuts and bruises, but real shaken up.” “Good, now tell me, was that fucking lunatic arrested.” “Umm…” “What the fuck, he’s still out there?” “I’m sorry Brian. I really didn’t mean to drag you into all this.” “Don’t be sorry. Sorry’s bullshit and this shit isn’t your fault.” “But…” “No. You are not going to blame yourself for some head case trying to fucking kill you.” We launch into silence after that and while I’m trying to deal with all that has happened, the pain in my shoulder becomes to much to bare. I realize that while Justin and I were talking, the doctor left and I didn’t even notice. So I search for the call button and realized it’s on the same side as my hurt shoulder. I try to get it but the pain shooting through me stops my movements and although I want to scream out in pain I try not to, but still end up letting out a deep pain filled groan. The sound no sooner escapes my lips when I hear sounds of movement beside me and a second later Justin is at my side, clutching his chest but only worried about me. “Brian, are you ok? What’s wrong? Are you in pain? Do you need help?” “Hey, slow the fuck down. I just can’t get to the call button and shouldn’t you be in that bed? You can barely breathe. Now fucking get your ass into that bed and then push your button. Go!” “But…” “Go!” Justin shuffles back to his bed and I can tell he’s irritated at me but he slowly gets on and presses the call button for the nurse and tells her I’m in pain and I can’t reach my button, to which she replies that she’ll be right there. As soon as he is done that, he looks back over at me and I know he’s about to say something I’m not going to want to hear. “Ok, listen Brian, I’m only letting you get away with talking to me like that because I’m the reason you’re here but seriously, don’t push it.” I open my mouth to tell him off and the nurse comes in, so all he gets is the trademark Kinney glare and unlike everyone else, when he sees the glare he just grins at me. I look at his smile and all I really want to do is smile back but I just raise an eyebrow and try not to show the pain as the nurse looks over my wound and then gives me pain meds and leaves. As soon as she’s gone, I feel my eyes get heavy and the last thing I see before I go to sleep is my angel/devil looking at me with a concerned look on his face. Two Days Later “What do you mean I can’t go home?” I know I’m shouting but this is such bullshit. I can’t believe they actually think they can tell me I can’t fucking go home. What right do these doctors even fathom they have to tell me what I can and can’t do? “Mr. Kinney, please understand that you will not be able to do almost anything by yourself. You will need just as much care when you get home as you need here in the hospital and if there is no one there to help you, what will you do?” “I’ll figure it out.” “Mr. Kinney…” “Stop calling me Mr. Kinney; that’s my father and I do have a name and I know you know it.” “Ok Brian. You can’t even go to the bathroom by yourself because your shoulder and that whole side of your chest is immobilized so you can’t unzip yourself. So how will you deal with that all alone.” I know he is right but I’m going completely crazy in here and listening to him is not helping because he is right. Right now I can’t do anything by myself, I can’t even get out of bed without someone helping or I fall on my face, which I’ve done. It’s just that I can’t stay here anymore and now that Justin’s leaving, I won’t even have him as a distraction so I’m really fucked if I can’t get out of here. “I said I’d deal with it. Hell, maybe I’ll walk around naked all the time.” “I’m sorry Brian, but like I said, if you can’t find someone to be with you until you’re more mobile, I can’t sign your release papers.” I’m about to tell him fine, I’ll just walk out. It’s not like I don’t have money to pay the bill if my insurance won’t pay it cause I walk out, when I’m interrupted. “I’ll do it.”
