After the appointment, Brian and Justin drive in comfortable silence to the loft. They needed to collect their thoughts before they could talk about the details of the future. Brian showing up to the appointment made Justin more than sure that he wanted Brian to be in his and their child’s life. Brian was thinking that no matter what happened he would find a way to help Justin. He vowed to not let the blond down. Both Brian and Justin's thoughts were nearly the same as they pulled up to the loft. They were thinking about how much they truly did need the other in their life.
"Do you want me to carry that?" Brian asked as he watched Justin reach back and grab his backpack from the back seat of the jeep.
Justin smiled, "No. It's not too heavy. I got it."
Brian shut off the engine and was in front of Justin's door helping the blond jump down from the jeep. Justin couldn't help but laugh, "Brian stop being all chivalrous. You’re starting to freak me out,” he said, but didn’t let go of Brian’s hand as the older man lead them up to the front door of the building.
“Oh but Sunshine,” Brian teased in a sing-song voice, “I thought you wanted a white knight.”
“Please Brian, you may have been half of what got us into this mess, but I don’t think any rescuing you do could get us out of it,” Justin joked back as they made their way up the elevator.
Brian let go of Justin’s hand to open the metal door and smirked as the blond went inside first.
Justin went over and sat down on the couch and pulled out the folder and packets of information the doctor had given him. He started placing them all on the coffee table, looking for the folder that contained the pictures of the ultrasound Dr. Lee had printed out and placed in one of the folders.
Brian took out his keys and wallet and sat them on the counter before going over to the fridge and surveying it’s contents, “Are you hungry?” he called over to Justin.
Justin’s mouth watered at the mere thought of food, “What do you ya got?”
“I don’t,” Brian told him but grabbed two bottles of water out.
Justin looked over and laughed, “Then why’d you ask?”
“I could call and order something,” Brian told him, walking over to hand Justin a bottle of water and setting his on the only free space on the coffee table.
“Okay. Just nothing too spicy.”
“So Thai is out then?” Brian said walking over to the phone.
“How about some sandwiches from the deli down the street?” Justin said hopefully.
“Your usual?” Brian asked dialing the number.
“Yup,” Justin answered and went back to looking thought the folders.
Brian placed their orders and then went over to sit next to Justin, “What do you have there?”
Justin handed Brian one of the pictures, “It’s one of the pictures of the baby,” Justin took a long drink of his water and wiped the sweat that had started to form on his forehead. He was feeling a little queasy but was also very hungry, sometimes if he was hungry and didn't eat quickly he would get sick.
"Are you okay?" Brian asked, noticing Justin's cheeks starting to flush.
"Yeah, just hungry," Justin told him before finishing off his bottle of water. "I get queasy feeling if I don't eat as soon as my hunger strikes.
"I guess I should start letting you go shopping with me so you can get snacks and stuff to keep here."
"Thanks Brian, I'd appreciate that," Justin looked at the picture he was holding and then back over to Brian's hands. "I can't believe we're doing this right now."
"Yeah, it’s surreal you know? I mean, I can't fucking believe this is our baby. That I heard our baby's heartbeat today," Brian shook his head at the thought. "I can't believe this is real."
Justin smiled and put his hand on his stomach, "Yeah. Neither can I. I mean, I cried when I saw the heartbeat for the first time. I'd never really thought about having a baby before and then when I heard that whirring and whooshing noise, it was like a song telling me I was going to be a Daddy."
Brian bumped his shoulder with Justin, "You can be so cheesy, you know that right?"
Justin smirked and bumped his shoulder back, "So can you Mr.' No matter who you're with, I'll always be there,' now that was cheesy," Justin laughed.
Brian stuck out his tongue and laughed with Justin. When their laughter died down he took the pictures from their hands and sat them on top of the pile of papers on the table. He then drew Justin closer to him and put his forehead against the blonds', "I'm sorry I missed it, that first time."
"I know you needed time to adjust Brian," Justin leaned in and gave Brian's lips a gentle kiss.
"How come you aren't freaking out? How is it that you're okay with all of this so fast?" Brian whispered.
Justin huffed a breath against Brian's lips, "I wasn’t. I freaked the fuck out at first. I am still not totally okay because I have no idea how we're going to do this. But I know it isn't good for me to be stressed out so I'm trying to calm down and just take it a day at a time."
"You're a smart little fucker," Brian told him softly, affectionately. "I feel like I don't know anything right now," he confessed.
Justin smiled, "That's okay. Cause I know that I love you and I love our baby. That's all that matters right now Brian."
Brian smiled at Justin and leaned in to give him a kiss. Justin's mouth opened to except Brian's tongue and just as Brian was about to slide his tongue into Justin's warm mouth there was a knock at the door.
Brian broke apart from Justin and sighed, "Must be the food."
"They didn't use the buzzer," Justin commented as Brian got up to go answer the door.
"I don't know what the fuck the point of having the fucking buzzer on the door is in the first place. The fucker always gets left open," Brian yanked the loft door open. "There is no security, no.." Brian's rant died on his lips when he saw who was standing there."
Justin turned and looked over at the door, "Brian?"
"You gonna invite me in sonny-boy?" 'Guess it's not the food,' Justin mumbled to himself, hoping that Jack wasn't there to start trouble for Brian. Brian had enough stress on his mind, he didn't need his father adding to any of it.
"Dad, what are you doing here?" Brian asked as he stepped away from
"I came to talk to you," Jack waltzed in but stopped when he saw Justin sitting at the couch. "Who's this?"
Justin looked at Brian and then back at Jack and back to Brian. He wasn't sure what to do or say, if he should do or say anything at all. Brian however looked just as confused as he was. Yet again he was seeing Brian acting totally and completely out of character.
"Uh.. Dad. this is Justin," he said finally, "Justin this is my dad Jack."
Justin swallowed a deep breath, "Hi," he gulped.
The buzzer sounded from downstairs cutting off any questions that an utterly confused Jack Kinney had.
"That's the food," Brian said going over to the intercom and buzzing the delivery person up.
"Are you a fairy?" Jack asked looking at Brian incredulously and than at Justin. He then looked over at the table and his eyes went large when he read the printouts.
"Yeah Dad," Brian said proudly.
"Delivery for Kinney," came a voice from the open doorway.
Brian went over to get his wallet and pay the delivery guy.
Meanwhile Jack walked over and sat on the far end of the sofa that Justin sat on.
Brian quickly paid for the food, sat it on the island and walked over to the sofa and sat closely beside Justin, "What did you want to talk about?" Brian asked Jack.
"Who is Justin?" Jack asked Brian and then leaned over and grabbed up a picture from the table. "And what's this, are you going to be a daddy sonny-boy?" Jack pushed the picture in his hands over to Justin.
"No, because I already am one," Brian told him.
Jack looked at Brian in shock, "I don't think I heard you right sonny-boy."
"You heard me, his name is Gus. He's a couple of months old now. Lindsay is his mother, you remember Lindsay Peterson from college?"
Jack nodded his head, "Blond, pretty girl."
"Yeah, and to answer your first question, Justin is pregnant with my second child," Brian told him.
"Can I meet this Gus?"
"I don't think that's a good idea Jack. You do realize I’m gay right?"
"You said you were a fairy."
Brian noticed Justin flinch at the word, "Look you can call me whatever you want but I don't' want you speaking like that in front of Justin, certainly not my kid if you meet him."
"I won't.. I'm just a bit in shock here. So Justin is your boyfriend?"
"No." Brian said, "he's.." Brian didn't have a clue as to what to call Justin. He'd far surpassed the term trick and he was more than just the person carrying his child.
"But you look happy with Justin. Or is boyfriend not the right word?" he asked confused.
"He's my partner," Brian told him taking Justin's hand.
"So can I meet Gus?"
"Why? You've never shown any interest in my life before, why start now. I don’t owe you anything, so why the fuck should I let you anywhere near my kid?"
"You're right, you don’t owe me anything. But I’m asking for a chance, to get to know both of your children, and you and Justin."
"Why the sudden change of heart Jack huh why do you.."
"Brian, can I talk to you for a minute," Justin interrupted whatever else Brian was going to say.
"Yeah," Brian said getting up and pulling Justin after him into the bathroom. "What is it?"
"You owe him nothing. I know that and so does he, but for some reason I think you should give him this chance Brian."
"Why? So he can hurt them?"
Justin heard the unspoken 'Me' in Brian's question. "No. I never said you should just hand Gus over or just forgive and forget. But I think you should give him this chance. He came here today obviously to reach out to you for some reason. Take a risk, like you did with me."
"That was a good risk, this is…"
Justin wrapped his arms around Brian and put his head on Brian's chest, "I know it's scary, he whispered, "Just try okay?"
Brian didn't answer Justin, he just nodded his head and took his lover's hand and walked with him back into the living room.
"I'm supposed to have Gus tomorrow night," Brian said sitting down and pulling Justin beside him. "You can come by around six."
Jack scooted closer and once again picked up the ultra sound picture, "Thanks, I know you don't have to do this."
"Just don't make me regret this Dad," Brian told him firmly.
Jack nodded and looked down at the image, "It's nice that they show you where the heart is," he observed. "I never could make out anything in Claire's pictures."
Justin smiled and leaned over, "Yeah, this ones allot more clearer than the last one. Last month you could barely make out the baby, you could only see the sac," he said drawing his finger around the image "here. That's all you could really see in the last one."
Jack looked at the image closely, "So you're having twins?"
"What?" Brian and Justin said in unison, "No!"
Jack took his finger and traced what looked like part of another 'sac' in the corner of the picture, "Well what's this then?" He asked pointing to what looked like the start of another sac.
