In my story Jack never died from cancer. The Kinney clan still doesn’t know that Brian is gay so will they be accepting or will they pray for his soul?

Brian and Justin are both reading the morning paper and drinking their first cup of coffee. Brian has the Business section and Justin is reading the Art section but they always save the comics for last so that they can them together. They know that they will eventually have to tell Brian’s family even though he hasn’t told them that he’s gay.
“Hey Brian. How about we go over to your parents house today?” Justin asked as he sat down the art section.
“Your kidding right?” Brian asked as he looked at Justin.
“No I’m not kidding Brian. Its time that you told your family that your gay and engaged.” Justin said as he reached for Brian’s hand.
“I know its just that I don’t want things to turn out badly and me seeing you get hurt.” Brian said as he held Justin’s hand tightly.
“Brian as long as we are together then nothing will keep us apart. We’ve overcome a lot worse so this will only me a small storm and we’ll get through it.” Justin said as he locked eyes with Brian.
“Your right we can get through this but if Jack even tries anything I want you to go to the jeep.” Brian said as he kept his eyes focused on Justin.
“I promise.” Justin said
“Ok so lets go over there in about an hour.” Brian said as he got up to go get dressed.
“Sounds good to me.” Justin said as he too got up to go get dressed.
An hour later they were both dressed and ready to go see Brian’s family. Brian already knew that it would be a long day especially when it came to dealing with his family. They arrived at his parent’s house around 10:30 and he noticed that his sister was there as well.
“Brian to what do we owe this pleasure of your once a year visit?” Joan said as she let her son and Justin in.
“I came to talk to you and Jack and now Clair about something.” Brian said as he took off his shades.
“Oh well come into the living room then and I’ll get your father and sister.” Joan said as she left the room.
“I’m getting a little nervous about this Brian.” Justin said, as he didn’t like how Joan had ignored him.
“Well its not going to get any easier baby.” Brian said as he rubbed Justin’s back.
A few minutes later the rest of the family showed back up in the living room and waiting to hear what Brian needed to talk about.
“So sonny boy are you dating a special young girl yet?” Jake asked, as he wanted grandkids to care on the family name.
“No pop I’m not dating a girl right now.” Brian said, as he hated that his father asked him that question every time.
“So then what is it that you have to tell us?” Jake asked.
“Well I wanted to let everyone know that I’m gay and the I’m engaged to be married.” Brian said as he reached over to grab Justin’s hand.
“So now you wanted to tell us that you’re a fucking fairy.” Jake said as he got up.
“Yes and this is Justin the man that I’m going to marry.” Brian said as he wasn’t feeling intimated.
“How old are you young man?” Joan asked
“I just turned 19 a few months ago.” Justin said as he was proud of who he was.
“I hope that you know that your going to hell.” Joan said
“I don’t want you near my kids Brian.” Clair said as she got up to leave.
“Clair stop being a bitch all the time.” Brian said as he walked towards her.
“Brian do you always have to use that kind of language?” Joan asked as she sat down in a near by chair.
“Mom I’m 31 years old and I don’t need you to tell me what to do.” Brian said as he was losing his temper.
“Brian while your in this house you will respect your mother.” Jake said as he came closer to Brian.
“Why don’t you three go to hell because at least I now know how to love and to be loved because I sure as hell didn’t learn it from you guys.” Brian said as he watched Jake closely.
“Mr. Kinney I don’t care if you approve of your son being gay but believe me your missing out on knowing one of the most caring man that I have ever met. If you really want to know I met your son on Liberty Avenue when I was 17 years old.” Justin said as he watched Jake get madder.
“Justin they aren’t worth the time of day to try to get them to change their minds. So lets leave and go home.” Brian said as he waited for Justin to stand up.
“I like your idea Brian.” Justin said as he got up and wrapped his arm around Brian’s waist.
“Oh Mr. & Mrs. Kinney I’m sure that you read in the news paper about 2 years ago when there was something about a bashing. Well that article was about me and thanks to Brian I survived my attack and now the only thing wrong with me is that I can’t draw for more than 15 minutes.” Justin said as he and Brian walked out the door.
