Justin tried to stay angry, and continued to stare at Brian. If he could focus on those feelings, he wouldn't have to think about how good Brian looked in his crisp white shirt, and salmon colored tie. As he suspected, Brian tried to get him to talk about himself. "Tell me how you got here.", Brian questioned. "Well, they took me on a bus, and they dropped me off here, instead of camp", Justin answered sarcastically. "You know what I meant. Stop being a smart ass.", Brian warned. "Look, I don't do therapy." "You can waste your time trying to get me to talk, or let me go back to my cell, and save someone else's soul." Brian knew this was going to be tough. Justin had not been cooperative in group therapy, so he had been prepared for some resistance. Firmly addressing the boy, he announced, "You have two choices. You can either sit here and listen to me ramble, or we can try to help you get past your obvious issues with trust." "Either way, you're here for the hour whether it appeals to you or not Sunshine." Although Justin did not respond, he was beginning to admire Brian's persistence. He also tried not to let his emotions show when the therapist addressed him as Sunshine. Oddly enough, Justin actually liked that nickname, and it appropriately engendered a warm feeling inside. When Brian's little announcement garnered no reaction, he just continued to talk about anything that came to mind. He hoped something he said would inspire the kid to chime in. However, the boy seemed determined not to let his guard down, and was probably petrified at the thought of being vulnerable, a sentiment Brian could certainly relate to. Brian realized that this would perhaps be the biggest hurdle for Justin to overcome. Although he wanted to get to know the real Justin Taylor, the remarkable breakthrough was not going to occur that day. The session came to an end, and Brian reluctantly excused Justin to return to his cell. He reminded him before he left, "I'll see you tomorrow morning at 10:00." The boy just shrugged his shoulders and sauntered out the door. Brian sat at his desk, and let out a huff. He put his head in his hands, combing through his hair with his fingers. This was going to be more difficult than he thought. To help Justin, he realized he was going to have to be completely professional. Brian would never breach the sacred patient/client relationship in any way. Although he was attracted to Justin, he was going to have to suppress any sexual inclinations he may have towards the boy. He wouldn't jeopardize his reputation or his job, and he wouldn't want to do anything to further tarnish the kid. Hell, he wasn't even sure that Justin was gay, although his gaydar was blaring otherwise. The one thing that Brian was certain of, was that Justin had deep dark secrets that were festering inside of him. Experience told him that Justin was avoiding any attempts to delve into his past, because he did not want to have to face the painful memories. Brian had to find some way to reach him. The only strategy that came to mind, was to establish a mutually trusting relationship with Justin. Once he was comfortable enough with Brian, perhaps he might be encouraged to share his troubles. Justin was worried. He didn't know how long he could sit in front of Brian and feign indifference. God he was gorgeous! He wanted to trust Brian, he seemed so sincere, but he was too afraid of getting hurt again. Justin decided to observe Brian as much as possible. Maybe it would give him insight as to whether or not Brian had a hidden agenda, or if he could be relied upon. It had been so long since Justin had confided in someone. He was growing weary of living within the walls he had constructed to protect himself.
