sweet, like that brian is barring his soul, but it's not ewy gooy and justin is neither sickly sweet or bitter, just reeling and from all the info brian has given him.

I was thrilled to read this update and so happy that you enjoyed the play.  I had hoped to go since I live in the D.C. area, but health issues put the kabosh on that.  I would love details.  Do you have a LJ site that I can 'friend'?

I'm not a fan of graphic sex scenes.  Most of the time they're too so repetitive - it seems all writers use the same chose of words and actions.  Plus, they should leave more up to the mind of the reader.  More is not better in my book.  I'm not into endless, meaningless porny scenes.  I'm here to read a fic.  I know many want that porn and that's fine - to each their own.  So, I really appreciate your love scenes.  They add to the fic without distracting from it.  They're tastefully done.  Wow, I feel like I just wrote a dissertation - sorry about that.  It was a long, side-winding compliment.

About the love scene - I can imagive quite a bit (LOL) and when I can't imagine something I can just pop pretty much ANY episode of QAF into my DVD player to jump start my imagination...my problem is the wording, the description. I tried to write something a bit more involved, as it were, and went through a couple of different drafts and it either came out sounding really clinical, like a "how to" guide, or it came out really, really silly. So, I just decided to strip it down (no pun intended) to something very basic and emotional, rather than a detailed play-by-play sex act. Surprisingly, when I stopped "trying" so hard, it was a lot easier to write and came out decent. I am glad it didn't disappoint.

Regarding "The Habit of Art", I am sorry you are unable to go see it. I hope you'll feel better soon. I've heard that the reviews were a mixed bag - some people liked it, some said it was just so-so. I personally loved it, partly because I grew up with theatre and it made me acutely aware of how much I miss it. When I was a kid, my mother and I used to go to the theatre at least twice a month when the season started every year. This was in Russia in the 80's, so tickets were actually affordable enough for us to go that often. Here in the US, that is decidedly NOT the case and I can't afford to go as much as I'd like. This production is actually a play-within-a-play where the audience is observing a "rehearsal" of a play about a poet and a composer discussing a possible collaboration. So all the actors are in a sense playing dual roles - the actors in a play and the characters in a play-within-a-play. I don't think I am explaining it very well, but that's the easiest way for me to describe it. Anyway, the stage as well as the wings are used by the entire cast throughout the play since we are witnessing a rehearsal. So you get to see the actors doing regular stuff in the wings in full view of the audience when they are "not in a scene", such as Randy drinking a bottle of water, playing with his iPad, etc. The play itself was good - witty, sharp dialogue, interesting story, compelling characters. The play is set in England, so everyone spoke with a British accent and I thought that Randy did a pretty good job, except there was one instance where he sounded rather Australian (I forgave him, since I speak with a bit of an accent myself, lol). All in all, good play and Randy was excellent in it. I only wish I could've taken a picture of him, but it was pretty much impossible where I was sitting.

Anyway, now I am the one who's writing a dissertation, so I'll stop and will say THANK YOU again for reading and reviewing.

As difficult as it is trying to keep B & J as much in character as possible, it's even more difficult (IMHO) to come up with convincing original characters that work.
