Jesus, this is on another level altogether. Stunning writing. All that vivid horticultural imagery- wow. Speechless. I take my hat off to you.

Author's Response:

Thanks!! 'Vivid horticultural imagery' - LOL ;-) I guess that is what it was, after all - although there was some marine invertebrate imagery snuck in there as well *g* I'm so glad you enjoyed this ficlet. Thanks so much for reading and for your lovely review!I appreciate it so much.

Very beautiful, my friend!  Loved the imagery that you provoked here.  Favorite line was probably:

"I fell asleep in his arms that night, as I’d done many times before. But that day, I also fell asleep in his love."

So romantic and sweet!  I do wish they had concentrated more on Brian's interaction with Justin after the bombing.  I can certainly understand why he had to be at the hospital for Michael, but oh how I wish they had shown more after the "I love yous" were given by Brian in that episode, and after the scene in 511 as they were making love.  But I did adore the tender look on Brian's face at the end of the episode as he gazed down at Justin.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful little ficlet with us.  *Hugs*  ~Kim

Author's Response:

Aw, thanks Kim *hugs* This comment totally made my day :-) (And my apologies for not replying earlier - yesterday turned out to be more 'exciting' than I'd anticipated...)

I'm thrilled that you enjoyed this little ficlet :-) I wrote it almost exactly two years ago and I kind of forgot about it until I found it again in my archive. If I remember correctly, it was my attempt to rectify the fact that we saw SO LITTLE of what happened right after the proposal. Like, you, I think all the scenes I'd have liked to have seen drawn out a little, this one is in my top three. I also just love the look that Brian gives Justin as they're lying on the floor that night. There is something in his expression that is so un-Brian, and yet seems to right. And Justin, finally understanding that he had been right all along about Brian's love for him. It would have been so interesting from a character-building point-of-view to see more of that scene.

In any case, I'm so thrilled that you enjoyed this ficlet :-) Thank you so much for reading and for your wonderful and insightful review. It really means so much *hugs*

Absolutely stunning. So emotionally visual. A fractal life... such strong imagery. Thank you so very, very much.

Author's Response:

Thanks Roni! I'm thrilled that you enjoyed this story and that you liked the analogies. I've always been fascinated by the idea of life being fractal like this. What would happen if you didn't chose to do that one thing at that one particular time? Would your life be different now? It's interesting to think about.

Thank you again for reading and for your lovely comment :-) It really means a lot and I appreciate it so much!

My whole world had folded up to fit neatly into that moment of the purest and most divine happiness I had ever known.

I loved the whole tree analogy but you had so many lines I loved in this little fic.

Nice job!

Author's Response:

Thanks ;-) I'm trilled that you enjoyed this fic and that you liked the analogies. I've always been taken by the idea that our lives are always splitting into mullions of possibilities and that we only (consciously or unconsciously) chose one. But there are always those moments when you can't help but wonder if we weren't *meant* to chose one over another...

Thank you so much for reading and for your lovely comment. It means a lot :-)
