Boy, what an enjoyable chapter. You gave Lindsey a talking to that she deserved. Gus two enjoyable days. Even put Claire in with a walk on by Tino. Can't wait to find out how that works out. That was just another terrific chapter of a wonderful story. I
keep writing that, but it is true.
One huge storm cloud that sits over this entire story is
Claire. Though in this chapter there seems to be a few
important hints, or am I reading too much into it.
Claire gives Tino the slip. Sounds to me she no longer
needs him or wants anything to do with him. I know she is on
prescription medicines that she got off a dealer. I am not sure
what that all means, but could it be – good bye Tino? Of
course how to get rid of him is a problem. A huge problem.
Next, what I found really startling is her realization that not
having to care for John and Peter is kind of good. It does make
life so much easier. I wonder if that is the path the story will
take. I vote for that one. I wouldn’t mind saying good bye to
Claire.
Finally, just thanks for this terrific story. There I said it
again. Please take this as a compliment as how closely we read
every word.

What an enjoyable chapter. I didn't want it to end. I'm glad that John decided to go with a tutor. Thank goodness Justin was able to comfort Brian after his 'talk' with John. It was very nice of Sally to help Claire out. Hopefully Claire gets her wish and doesn't have to deal with her sons. Joanie, of course, needs to read her bible, better yet have Father Butterfield explain parts to her. Love all the wonderful food you had in this chapter, especially McDonalds. Yummy. Poor Lindsay, nobody will let her get away with anything. Thank goodness.

You make me smile more and more with each chapter! It would be wise for Lindsay to finally straighten up and just accept the fact that Justin is Brian's husband and not hers. In the meantime, the rest of the family have quite a trial to get through.

Author's Response: Hope you enjoyed your vacation. My grandmother was German (her parents were born in Germany) so I would have know what gemutlich meant. Her maiden name was Schmitt - the "tt" is a little more unusual spelling of the name. Although that is almost the extant of my German language skills. Happy you enjoyed the latest chapters. There is some pretty heavy competition for that "ashole of the storyline" award. We'll just have to wait and see who pulls ahead in the home stretch. Well it looks like Gus almost had a girlfriend. I'm glad that they told Gus about the move back and I think it was unfair of Lindsay to complain. Justin told her like it is and she still thinks she can tattle to Brian and get her way. Boy is she wrong. I'd love to see that conversation happen. lol. At least Mel is being sensible. Looks like things are going Claire's way at the moment. Maybe Tino got hit by a car and isn't coming back. Of course buying those Oxy will get her in trouble again. Good for Alice for insisting Justin eat his fruit. What would this family do without her, even though John makes killer eggs and grilled cheese sandwiches. Great chapter as always.

Brian showing his softer side to people who won't abuse him for it meaning not Lindsay Michael or Debbie. I like that. I like that Brian and Justin own Craig or Sunshine Associates does. Sorry I haven't been able to give feedback recently. Since you asked,nothing has changed. I still think this is a terrific story. It sure has changed a lot, more than a lot. The issue that keeps me concerned is what about Claire? What would happen if she found her way back to some normalcy. She now has a job, and she is capable to keeping it and functioning well. How does that affect Peter's and John's future? So far she had been able to stay away from any drugs that don't belong to her. Noww hat about Tino? Since Brian has helped so many, can he help Claire or is she on way to jail. So many questions and so many possibilities. Of course,I don't want any answers except let the story unfold whatever will bewill be.

Hi, Bill! Another great chapter. I think this one is one of my favorites.:) I love all the details you put into this story, although at this rate you might have 100 chapters on your hands - ha! But I'm not complaining. I think the pace for this story is just right.;)
I love how you have incorporated so many new characters into this fic and made them come to life. That's not always easy to do, but you have made them endearing to me, which means (IMO) you're doing a great job with that. LOVED the part about Gus helping Kevin to read; that was SO sweet. And i adored the part about Justin and Brian in the pool house discussing Brian being 'out of character,' and how Justin was concerned about not wanting to make Brian uncomfortable.

I like Brian's attitude toward the school administrator and Mark's parents. He has grown.
I feel sorry for Claire, who has started to really reap the results of her wrong decisions. It doesn't change how bad she was to her kids, but I get no joy in seeing her hurt.

With the school soon to beginn and the test, a new stress factor comes around. It is so good BRian made the priorities clear, it´s the best base for challenges to come. And very well written John´s struggle. At first I thougt he was annoyed by his homophobic team-mate....
The homophobia-theme even came up at the hospital, which is very sad, plus have Craig as a father and homophobic "in-laws"- no thank you. Will there be more tressful moments and how will our little family of boys handle it?
But you give us always little nice moments in each chapter, which is great. Thanks!

John has nothing to worry about as far as the test for the academy goes. He'll do fine, and if not, fine too. Wouldn't trust Lindsay as far as I could throw her. Well played Molly! Craig really did seem to care more about the possibility that he had been slighted than if his daughter were truly alright. While her physical injuries are not severe, I have a feeling the emotional injuries that Mark's parents are about to inflict will be far worse.
Claire and Lindsay are both train wrecks just waiting to happen. Claire continues to get high, and Lindsay continues to be a pretentious, ungrateful, manipulative bitch. I think that Justin is truly going to regret inviting them to stay at the house until the loft is done...Lindsay causing a bit of trouble is eminent.

I wonder what the future will bring to Gus and his fathers, will he stay with them because the loft will be overcrowded, Linds so unhappy?
I like the road the nephews take, can´t wait till you give us to read the talk with the uncles about permanent custody. I see Justin more emotional involved with them and Brian more in some kind of empathy (shitty circumstances, unable mother etc), but is this enough for permanent life...? It´s much more better than what they had with Claire!
I am happy you gave the young boys playing time in the creek - this so important und get dirty is a must for youngsters! In US-fanfiction I wonder always the amount of time children spend watching dvds and the families don´t go on trips on sundays......
I hope you know by now how much I like your story, go on and stay inspired!
Author's Response: Sorry I make you wait so long between updates, I will try and do better. Right at this moment I don't have an ending in mind for the story, just lots of ideas for future chapters. You may have a long wait for the story to be complete! You are very kind about my writing, I don't think I deserve such praise. I think you are correct about Claire's career, no hope of a good future there. Mikey is quite single minded and has trouble seeing any viewpoint but his own. My boyhood summers were spent mostly getting very dirty playing around a creek and often being told by my mother to jump in our pool to get the worst of the dirt off me so I agree that is something that boys should be doing.

What will be Brian's reaction when he'll find out about what Claire is doing to pay for her drugs ? I can't imagine.
With Lindsay, I was wondering if Justin & Brian wouldn't prefer to talk about the money directly with Melanie (by now, they know they can't trust Lindsay). Not only money but everything about Gus. All this mess is Lindsay's fault. She's in a place where she thinks all is about her and B&J are against her. Melanie was desperatly trying to fix everything but failed. Brian can't really condemn her for wanting to do it without his or the family's help. He would do the same if he didn't have Justin in his life (he learned it with the cancer). Trust is very important to Brian and I think Melanie is more trustworthy than Lindsay. It could may be what Lindsay needs to make her see how fucked up she is.
I think Brian will compare Claire and Lindsay after he'll see the detective's report. Of what Claire is capable of for her drugs. What she did to Peter and John. Lindsay's gambling problem didn't went that far because of Melanie. Melanie was there to see Lindsay had a problem, to help her, to protect their two kids and when she realised she couln't do it she took her family back to Pittsburg. I can't imagine Lindsay taking the decision to move back. Melanie can put her ego aside for her kids' well being but Lindsay wouldn't face Brian's disappointment. She constantly needs approval from the people she loves the most.
It's time for Melanie to stop letting Lindsay's emotional problems take so much room in their family life. It's not only the two of them anymore, they have children to think of.
People consider gambling a addiction that can't be cure but manageable. I'm totally ok with that but Lindsay's problem with her jealousy towards Justin isn't a kind of mental illness. Please, I'm begging you. Don't make it a medical issue. She's just a jealous b*tch. Everyone can be one (I am one a lot of time) at different level.
Like always Gus is the best. I like that Brian is so at ease with the idea of Molly watching after Gus (well Alice is there too). It's great that Gus isn't always playing with boys. Molly can show him that girls can be cool too.

She has a gambling addiction but I agree that many issues are just from jealousy. I always felt that both Lindsay and Michael had probelms dealing with not being the most important people in Brian's life. It wasn't that Brian didn't care about them but Justin clearly is number one with Brian. I think it is often hard for old friends whena friend has someone new in their life.

This story is moving along wonderfully the boys are now comfortable enough to speak their fears to Brian. Lindsay what a bitch! Loved how Debbie went into bat for Brian against Michael and that Brian recognised Jennifer's behind the scenes work.

This is a really wonderful story and I totally enjoy reading Michael/Lindsay bashing story.
First of all, Michael is just a man who never grows up, despite how everyone tells him to stay out of others business but he never listens. Funny how he never really contributes to his "precious"daughter yet he has the nerve to critize Brian's actions, what a selfish prick! Glad to see that Debbie stands up for Brian and Justin!!
And Lindsay is just an ungrateful bitch who is forever asking for money and never appreciates Brian's help. She takes everything for grantd and manipulates others to believe that she is the victim. I wonder if Lindsay will get the job from the art gallery, although I really dislike her, but I'd love to see how Justin becomes her boss hahhaha.

After a terribly busy time on job I´m back and enjoy chapter after chapter...
Unfortunately some people never change...Michael, Lindsay who wants always money and more money as if she had a right to get Brian´s money. Are there deeper reasons we know not yet, maybe hidden depts...? And Claire - funny her name in french means "clear" but she isn´t at all. And again her boys get hurt. IN the latest chapter you gave us readers some hopeful perspectives: permanent custody, new school. I always hope this story will not end too soon, we all need lots of chapters ;)

I can't believe Lindsay is still complaining when neither she nor Melanie are footing the bill for their move back to the Pitts. Michael really should stay out of it, and if he had any common sense he would have told Lindsay it was none of his business to begin with.
On a brighter note, I think it's awesome that Brian and Justin are taking steps towards permanent guardianship. John and Peter will be thrilled to finally have a little piece of mind and not have to worry about the next chapter of turmoil in their lives...let's hope that the courts agree. This may also be a way to get Claire to submit to taking that drug test. If She's clean it shouldn't be a problem right?

I don't want this story to ever end. I can't wait to have more of Gus and Kevin friendship.
I have to say, I'm getting really sick of Michael's stupidity. He's always on Brian's back and Brian is always so patient with him. I would love to see Michael reaction to Brian openly criticizes his non-existent financial assistance for the girls and his daughter.
Brian has no obligation towards Gus because he gave his rights to Melanie but Brian does all he can for his son. Michael still has his rights for JR and wants Brian to give money for her too.
I'm wondering if the girls let JR with Michael while they're in Toronto or did they keep her with them ? Has Melanie ever let JR with Michael ? If yes, was it because she knew Ben was with them or she really trust Michael with her daughter ?
The best way for Michael to see how Lindsay manipulates him is to be present when Brian receives her phone call and see how long she waits before calling him and telling all her BS. But having Michael's approval isn't important. Brian already has it from the people that really matter (Justin and Jennifer) whose are here for and support him without expecting something from him. It's also good that Debbit starts to understand that.
John and Peter are great. They don't want to be used to this life with Brian in case it stop but they don't refuse to participate in it. Now that they know Brian and Justin want them to stay John and Peter will be more relax. They're so good with Gus and Gus is so cute.
I don't really care about Lindsay, Melanie, JR or Michael but we don't see Gus with them a lot. How old is JR right now ? Is she old enough to knowledge that Gus is less around her ?
Author's Response: Thanks for all the nice comments, I really appreciate them. Michael and Brian have been friends for a long time and Brian is pretty used to all Michael's foibles. He only really reacts negatively if Michael says or does anything against Justin. JR went back to Toronto with her mommies and she is 3 years younger than Gus (at least in my QAF world) so she is 4. JR has stayed with Michael and Ben for a few dasy at a time. I like John & Peter (in my story not so much in the show) and they will continue to be part of the story. I do so enjoy this story. I felt like jumping up and down for joy when Debbie let Michael have it for butting into Brian's financial assistance for the girls. I thing Brian did the right thing telling Lyndsay that Cynthia would handle the movers. It has me wondering just what she planned to do with the money once it got into their account. I'm really glad to see Brian and Justin taking legal steps to give John and Peter some stability. The only complaint I have is with reading this at bedtime, I always get hungry. But I'm not about to pass up enjoying this tale.

Whoa, I didn't think that I could be anymore disgusted in Claire than I already was. The fucking nerve of her showing up high to see her sons. I'm just glad that these young men had the courage to call her on her shit. As much as Claire would like to believe that Brian and Justin are the reason for the boys attitude toward her, she has to somehow realize that their time spent with their uncles has been instrumental in changing them for the better.

What an enjoyable chapter. So much fun and it's nice to see how Kinnetik supported John's soccer team. It was also nice to meet Kevin and see how well he got along with Gus and Grandmom Jen. Well it seems that all of Lindsay's bitching about how Justin came to own the gallery is about to bite her in the ass. Furthermore, her constant complaints regarding her and Mel's new living situation just might cost her both her son and wife.
I really applaud Brian for putting Mikey in his place. He had absolutely zero right to call Brian selfish when he is basically taking up the role of father to not only Gus, but to J.R. as well. Well this chapter surprised me. I thought we were in for a little more mayhem at the Barbeque. "I had a reviewer give me a hard time over being anti-Michael" you wrote this in a reply to a review I gave; I really hope you didn't change your script because of this. I was waiting on tenterhooks all through this chapter to see the affray and it didn't eventuate. Maybe it was just my expectation. I know I've said it before, but I do like your Jennifer and the way you are writing her.

I'm pretty stubborn about my story lines, I hope people like them, but would never change my story just to try and please someone. I don't view Michael as a bad person but he is very immature and has a hard time dealing with the fact that he is not number one in Brian's life. I think Lindsay and Michael both miss being in first position with Brian. I think she is jealous that first Justin and now the nephews seem to get more of Brian's attention than she does. I loved this chapter!!! :D The 4th of July party was fun to read, and I soooo loved the way that Jennifer put Lindsey in her place..... XD I just hope that Michael and Ben get the story straight soon, and in a peaceful environment, away from confrontations.... Also, I absolutely loved the way that Justin and Gus manipulated Brian into wearing his shirt.... XD Anyway, I'm really looking forward to the next chapter! Hope to read you soon! Kisses!
Author's Response: Glad you loved this chapter. I like Jennifer in protective mother mode. I have a feeling that Michael and Brian might have a confrontation about the girls. Someone from another site asked me "pretty please" to update quickly and I promised to update by mid week. Supposed to be a rainy week here so I won't be tempted to spend as much time outside as I was this past week. I read the reply you gave saying you had a reviewer give you a hard time over this fic being "anti-Michael". There are two categories "anti-Michael" and "anti-Lindsay" you can add to this fic, you might lose one or two people from reading it, but you will probably gain more than you lose. I know this by the type of reviews I receive. We can't all like the same thing so write the fic the way you want, just give the audience as much warning as you can. A lot of people do look at the categories to see if they are going to read something and some only click on the categories they like and only read those fics. I hope that helps you as that is what I am trying to do by telling you this. I am enjoying this fic and I still can't get it out of my head that somehow it is familiar to me. I love Tucker and Emmett in this chapter.
