Awww this one was really sweet. And good LORD would I love to see Brian hosting a teenage girl sleepover!

Author's Response:

Thanks :-) I'm thrilled that you enjoyed this story. I've always been interested in the relationship between Brian and Justin's family, especally Jennifer. I like to think that they share some common ground besides Justin... Thanks again for reading and for your wonderul review!

I"m glad that Justin is going to let up a little on Tucker.   He really is a nice guy, and he makes Jen happy.   That in the grand scheme of things, is all that matters.

Author's Response:

Glad you enjoyed it :-) I've always been fascinated by Brian and Jennifer's relationship. They are very different people, but their common ground is Justin. I like how, throughout the canon storyline, they learnt to find the middle ground, and actually began friends. Such good character development *g*

Such a great story, I really love the way Jennifer and Brian were and the stuff Vrisn said to about maybe why Justin was acting the way he was. Towards Tucker. Justin does need to relax and get to know him to see he is not an enemy. I love Molly as well she was pt.

Brilliant story x

Author's Response:

Thanks. I'm very glad you enjoyed this story. I've always been fascinated by Brian's relationship with Jennifer; she goes from being extremely wary of him in the first season, to seeing him as Justin's salvation in the second, to accepting him as a friends, to seeing him as family. Their interactions in the later seasons are always quite casual, but what you can always see is the common ground they share: their love of Justin. I could see it being difficult for Justin to accept Tucker, but I think he will in the end (in this universe at least), because Jennifer accepted Brian in the end. Thanks again for reading and for your lovely review!

I LOVE this little universe and would love to see you write more from it. I also love reading stories with Jennifer and Molly loving Brian, I mean, how could they not?? I'd love to see that pre prom sleepover ;)

Author's Response:

Thanks :-) I'm happy that you like this little universe. I wrote one previus story in it ('All that Glitters'), and enjoyed it so much I thought I'd write another. I'm really intrigued by Jennifer and Brian's relationship, and thought it would be interesting to explore it a little furthur. I always got the feeling Molly and Justin were close, although there seems to be a abig age difference between them. Now that Molly's older (in this unverse), Justin can start giving her some adult advise from the big brother point of view. Thanks for reminding me about the pre-prom night sleepover - I'd forgotten about that. I may have to explore that again soon... Thanks again for reading and for your reviews!

I read this this morning, and I have to say I enjoyed it. I can't see Brian at this stage of self-awareness for many years yet, but it is not unreasonable to believe that he does reach it. He certainly did get on with Mrs Taylor at the end, which was one of the moments of the series I felt was both underplayed and underappreciated. You definitely rationalized why Justin felt threatened by Tucker- even though I remain resolute that his hostility was so hypocritical I am unsure why the screenwriters even included it. You also rationalized why Jennifer resented Brian being in the picture initially. It's a very cmplex and interesting piece, really, but it is sweet. Nicely done.

Author's Response:

Thanks :-) I'm trhilled that you enjoyed this story. Bria and Jennifer's relationship has always been a source of fasination for me. They are very different people (at least the start with), and yet they seem to realize they have a lot in common. Justin is their common ground, but they are also similar in some other ways. I can see Brian and Jennifer's relationship maturing because of this. I also thought that it was very hypocritical of Justin to make a fuss of the age difference between Jennifer and Tucker, but I think it also served as a reality check for him. He was suddeny in the shoes Jennifer had been in a few years earlier, and I like to think that walking a mile in them would help Justin come to terms with her choices. Justin and Jennifer have a close relatinship, and I also liked that Brian respected that - especally givne his own maternal relationship. For me, Brian is a very mature and complex character on the inside, and that's how I like to portray him. Thanks again for reading and for your inisghtful review!

I enjoyed your story. Since Jennifer accepted Brian it seems he found out what a loving mother actually looks like, he certainly didn't have that Joan or Debbie. Someone who sees his flaw, and like Justin, loves him anyway. Justin is smart he knows his mother and Tucker love each other and Brian will help him see his mother and sister love him and Tucker, he wasn't replaced.

Author's Response:

*Facepalm* I'm really, re ally sorry I didn't reply to this review. It must have completely slipped under my radar. I don't suppose you'll read the responce now, but just in case you do: I'm thrilled that you enjoyed this story, and that you could appreciate the relationship between Justin, Brian and Jennifer. The relationship between Justin and his mother was touched upon on the show. She was the mother anyone would have been proud to have even when she butted heads with Brian. I still remember Justin and Jennifer dancing on one episode. Lovely and touching.

I believe you were right in that Justin felt displaced when Tucker came along. His mother was his cornerstone no matter what was happening in his life. I don't think he ever doubted how much she loved him. I also believe that Justin felt no one was good enough for his mother and feared her being burned as she was with Craig. I'm not sure if the age different between Jennifer and Tucker was the real problem. Ahywho, I thought this story cover all the bases. It was nice to get more perspective on that mother/son relationship as well as some Molly and Justin time. Brilliant!

Author's Response:

Thanks for your wonderful feedback :-) I agree that Justin and Jennifer had a great relationship, and one that only grew stronger over time. I also really love the relationship Jennifer developed with Brian - I felt it was built on mutual respect: she respected him for his love of her son, and he respected her for accepting Justin for who he was in a way his own mother never did. Although the age difference between Jennifer and Tucker may not have been the real issue, I did like the irony of it. Suddenly Justin was the one who had to adjust to someone he loved being in a relationship with someone a little unconventional. I think you are right in that Justin's ultimate dislike of Tucker was actually distrust. He was looking out for Jennifer, and was maybe a little bit over-protective...

I'm thrilled that you enjoyed this story! Thanks again for reading and for your wonderful review :-)

Aww.  Very sweet.  I loved Molly and her relationship with Brian and her brother.  Brian was amazing as a son-in-law.  Jennifer was funny, making Brian blush and revelling in it, especially after what she has seen because of him.  And, yeah, it is time for Justin to get over it.I find it very interesting that you have Brian refer to Justin as an 'alpha' male... I never doubted he was, but never before thought about it in regards to him and Brian and them being a couple.  Although I do remember suggesting that Brian had a maternal soul.  Wouldn't two alpha's clash?  But then again, Brian has always been a fanatic about giving Justin his space...

Author's Response:

I'm really glad you enjoyed this story ;-) We never really got to see much of Justin's family in the show after season one, although Jennifer did turn up here and there. The Tucker arch in season five was intriguing, but they left it hanging after the bomb. I like to think that Jennifer also got a happily ever after, and that she and Justin remained close. I could see Tucker as something that could drive them apart, but I can't see Brian ever letting that happen.

In terms of the 'alpha male' thing, my thought was that Justin was an alpha male in his relationship with Tucker, specifically. He doesn't have to be an alpha male in every relationship he's in. In my mind, there is a distinction between having a Type A personality, and being an 'alpha'. The former is a personality trait, whereas the latter is far more dependent on the situation (although the two are obviously not mutually exclusive). With Brian, I don't see Justin as an alpha. With Tucker, I think he is. Not sure if that makes sense, but that's kind of how I rationalize it in my head...

Thanks again for reading and for your insightful review - it's wonderful to get such great feedback!

Great Story.  Interesting for Brian to have a pet of his own.  Most stories have Brian being pet phobic.

Author's Response:

Thanks - I'm really glad you enjoyed it ;-)

I can see Brian being pet-phobic initially, but he's certainly not someone who would leave a kitten drowning in a stream. This cat, Ophelia, actually has a bit of a back story that's explained in an earlier fic. Brian found her while Justin was away at a conference, and was initially  going to take her to the Animal Rescue. But by the time he'd taken her inside cleaned her up and fed her, he couldn't bring himself to do it. Ophelia had decided Britin was her home and that Brian was her human... I also get a kick out of the fact that she is jealous of Justin. Animals can be like that ;-)

Thanks again for reading and for your wonderful review. I really appreciate it!

That was really, really nice! Loved being in on a pivotal moment in Justin's relationship with Tucker.

Getting a son-in-law for a son must stretch boundaries in a way that is different than getting a daughter in law does.

Author's Response:

I'm thrilled that you enjoyed this story. I was always a little disappointed that the Tucker arch was dropped from canon - we never really did get to see where it went. Personally, I couldn't see Justin warming up to Tucker right away, even after the bombing, as I think he is a bit protective of Jennifer. But I like to think that he got there in the end.

LOL! I think getting Brian as a son-in-law might stretch anyone's boundary ;-) It's no wonder Jennifer was horrified when Justin first started seeing Brian. That said, she figured him out pretty quickly, I think, and they understood one another by the end of the show. I like to think that was a lasting friendship.

Thanks so much for reading and for your lovely review. I appreciate it so much :-)

I did love this story.  Especially the cat!  What a wonderful Christmas tale and a delightful ending.  Brian has come a long way and now maybe Justin has too.

Author's Response:

I'm thrilled that you enjoyed this story :-) I'm also glad that you liked Ophelia *g* I kind of think of her as Brian in cat form, which is maybe why they get along so well... Brian has come a long way since he first met Justin, but I think his friendship with Jennifer was something they developed relatively early on. I think Jennifer really appreciated what Brian did for Justin, and I think Brian appreciated that Jennifer accepted Justin in a way that his own mother never would. As for Justin, in this story he doesn't like Tucker on principle, because he's a bit protective of his mother. He is learning, as she did, that love sometimes means letting go.

Thanks again for reading and for your lovely review. It means a lot and I appreciate it very much :-)
