I have always wanted to read a toppyjustin fic about this night, and it's nice to know you kinda think like me and how Brian thought about that night. Seriously, it was like you crawled in to my brain and then wrote this.

This is so Brian. Great story.
Author's Response: Thank you! I'm so glad you liked it and thought I stayed true to Brian's character - that was my goal to the extent possible :)

I reviewed this on Ao3 but wanted to say again that I really love this conflicting and complex narrative. That moment really did say a lot on Brian's feelings towards him. Even though Brian did need to learn how to be vocal about his feelings, I wish Justin could have remembered this near the end of season 2 (but I do think he needed the Ethan experience regardless so maybe not.) Great job!
Author's Response: Hi Annie!
My God! Sorry for the terribly late response. Given that I hadn't started all my recent travels, I have no excuse. Please forgive me.
I SO wish Justin had remembered this moment (I hint rather ominously at the end of this story that he might not - canon can be so brutal!) But, yeah, I agree with you about Justin needing the whole Ethan experience.

this is so great and exactly how I would think brian reacted after that happened. Great job capturing it! You stayed true to his character.
Author's Response: Thank you SO much! I was trying my hardest to keep Brian in character. I'm happy to know I succeeded :)

Perhaps Brian is thinking too much. At least he has a plan to get things on track. lol.
Author's Response:
Something tells me that Brian often overthinks things - but not necessarily productively :-/

Of course Justin is that smart! Silly Brian having doubts about that! I've always wondered how much Justin got to top after this. I mean it is the only time we see a hint of it in canon after all. Surely Brian needed to have that itch scratched at least once in a while and who better than Justin? Sorry for rambling on you but this is really that has bothered me for a long time about this series. Really lovely to read it's a great gap filler.
Well done!
:)
Author's Response: Thank you, my dear :)
My opinion for what it's worth (and I know many/most people disagree) is that Justin does not top Brian again. If he did, I think the show would've made that clear. The only other time the issue of switching comes up is when Brian and Justin literally fight over it (season 4). I've read that the show's writers actually regret including the scene I wrote about at all - or at least at this point in the show. They said that Brian just wouldn't have let it happen. If that's true, then it's rather sad. Justin clearly wants to switch, but Brian doesn't want to - and as is too often the case, Brian always gets his way :-/
