Another chapter- so wonderful.  I really like how Justin put Melanie in her place regarding the Gus situation.  Now we'll have to see if the information sticks.  I hope you plan on writiting about the Disney vacation- that should be an interesting tale all by itself.

So much happening in this chapter.  I worry that Nico might try to get back at Debbie.  Hopefully Joe takes the talking she gave him to heart.  It's hard to understand Michael's and Meanie, I mean Melanie's attitudes.  As Ben reminded Michael they don't pay child support, while Justin and Brian pay for JR's school tuition.  Melanie seems determined to favor her daughter over Gus.  If Gus goes to live full time with Brian and Justin, they could stop contributing to JR, not that they would.  You write the best chapters.

What a heartwarming chapter! Gus is such a loving little boy - just the way I think Brian would have been if he'd had loving parents. Brian has such a big heart, even if he doesn't like to be thanked for all his kindnesses toward others. 

Can't wait to see Ted with the crown and cape. LOL

With the holidays approaching, this is the perfect time to catch up on this story - so glad I have a few more chapters to read. Thank you for continuing this delightful saga!

   That was another very interesting chapter.  To me it was about who is missing rather than what happened.  Jen’s new/old tradition of taking the family to see the Nutcracker, where was JR?  These people in a way belong to Gus and there was no need to share that day.  This was his day.  Was there a happier child than Gus?  Nope.  I have said it before and notice there really wasn’t any room for Craig.  The tradition happily continues without him. 

    One more missing person though, and there are more.  Where is Michael?  Who cares?  Debbie, and Brian though Debbie, need to reach to out to  him. He is becoming irrelevant.  Similar to Craig, where does Michael fit except being Debbie’s son?  Sadly, he is not missed.

You did good my Sweet Baboo! I was amazed Brian went to the ballet with the others. I was happy Justin told the boys about the ballet and then repeated the story at bedtime for Gus so everyone would understand the story. Of course Brian made fun at home but quickly changed his behavior. He was happy Gus enjoyed himself and Brian treated everyone to a wonderful meal and made the outing so special. If Gus could get his daddy to wear the awful t-shirt on the fourth of July he certainly could get him to go to the ballet. It was wonderful for Jen I think she missed this for a number of years. It wouldn't surprise me if next year for her other grandson Kevin might want to go with Gus, after all daddy would have to stay with the babies but no doubt papa would be with them. I know Brian is stressed out about Joan, but Justin knows how to reach him. Good story. Love ya.Sally.

Awwwwww all this happiness & Christmas love is the best!

Justin had a lot to do this chapter telling Brian a shitty mother is not his fault. Making sure All the boys know the Nutcracker story so they understand what they are seeing in the ballet. And reminding Brian that he loves him because he is cute. I loved that line.not sure I like Deb advertising Brian and Justin's wealth I think Nico would have more Veda on with just the reminder of what happen to Tino. You know I love chapters that are mostly the boys so this was great. Looks like maybe I could get 3 chapters in my birthday month. Thanks for that....

 My Sweet Baboo, I'm really sorry to respond to the last two updates so late. I have been reading a wonderful story that beckons me everytime. The writing is tops and the story draws you in, it is written by a talented man you may have heard of (tongue in cheek and a Brian like smirk)PABoi. I was reading again and on chapter 80 when I decided to continue, then I start over with HOLIDAY HAPPENINGS from the beginning to refresh my memory. In chapter 19 Gus was such a cutie, his concern for others is so like his daddy and papa. While mikey is so selfish when it comes to JR, his mother and Carl and Ben. His concern for Ben is unbelelivable he figures wait long enough and Ben will forget about the rules he's trying to make mikey grow up, he does nothing for anyone and is critical of people who do. I'm interested in the new guy Joe. Deb should take him in, and pack up everything in mikey's room--the Capt. Astro bedspread the wall paper should go--she needs to paint get a new bed and rid the room of all child like mikey presents, make sure mikey know to get his stuff picked up and he no longer has a room there, he is married and needs to be with Ben it's Joe's room now. He needs a place to live, he needs regular meals, and a job, but mainly he needs someone who cares. Your loving Sally

    It was a fun and happy chapter until we got to Joan.  I had no

idea which way things would go with her.  But you know, as Peter

said, her going home to be alone is probably what she wanted. 

Well she got her wish.  It is sad, and just before Christmas.  A

small piece of me hoped that with the holidays, and having Peter

and John around, she would become more accepting of Brian and

Justin.  Oh well!

   A word of warning.  In his own way, Michael’s situation is becoming similar to Joan.  He has said enough awful things that

who except for Debbie cares about him.  That is sad.

   How about a good word for Claire?  Let me throw a little guilt

and maybe since it is Christmas, how about a visit by her sons or

maybe some gifts?  Just a suggestion. 

   Anyway, thanks for the chapter I enjoyed it.

I don't thnk Joan is sad.  I think she prefers to be alone with her bible and lament how the world is a bad place.  No one quite meets her standards so she avoids everyone.  I think Ben still has some feelings for Michael but he really needs to get a job and contribute to their household.  I believe Debbie may try and help the job hunt, anything to keep him out of her happy home with Carl.  Wonder who she will ask about giving Mikey a job???????  You are correct Claire should get some Christmas gifts from her sons, that is only right.  No visit until she owns up to her responsibility for what John & Peter went through in that last year they lived with her.  She has never apologized to them or to Brian & Justin for the kidnapping attempt.  Happy to know you enjoyed this chapter.  Borderline OCD Brian is the perfect person to place that tinsel one strand at a time.  Always look forward to your comments, you always give me food for thought.  Thanks for the review, everyone know how much I love to get reviews!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Bill

Sorry this is a little late.  I spent a week at Disney and while I had a chance to read this there I couldn't remember my password to leave a comment.  It was so nice for Gus to come home and see all the decorations.  I enjoyed the hiking vs walking talk and it looks as though hiking won.  Charlie is so smart to come up with a plastic sheet under Gus chair when he had his favorite meal of spaggetti and meatballs.  The decorating of the tree was another great time had by all.  Gus is also so sweet to worry about Joe. Justin and Gus going shopping made a perfect time for John and Peter to say goodbye to Joan.  She had a lot of nerve saying that Brian was self-rightous as that is a perfect description of herself.  John let her have it though and though Peter was nicer about it he admitted that he agreed with John.  So Alice and Cassie ended up taking Joanie home.  As Alice so eliquently but it "Goodbye and good riddance.  Loving this and looking forward to yet another chapter.

Hope you had fun at Disney. Never too late for a review!!!  I don't think Brian actually cares about walk vs hike, he just doesn't like his Sonny Boy taking Tucker's side of the discussion.  When my niece and nephew were young we always put a plastic table cloth under their chairs if we ate in the dining room.  Makes a meal much less stresful.  Joan sees things her way and she thinks she is always correct when most of the time she is on the wrong side of things.  She will be happy alone in her hosue with no one to argue with her point of view.  My friend, thanks as always fr your review.  I never feel a chapter is complete until I read your comments!!!!   Bill

I don't mind the wait when we get such a long and wonderful chapter. I love all the little details that you give us. It is a hallmark of your writing. I really think it is what makes me feel like I could just read this story all day. It is comforting. Highlights for me in this chapter: of course, all the affectionate B&J moments, Brian's listing of all the good things that had happened during the year, the oatmeal, brown sugar, and raisins and Alice supplying Brian with a spoon, Brian shopping for princess stuff, Brian's evil thoughts of Ted and Blake in their royal garments, the story of Joe and how Gus wanted to help, I'm hoping we learn more of Joe's backstory and what happens next with him. I hate to think of him on his own at such a young age. And, the fact that someone physically hurt him. Good for Debbie regarding her determination to get Michael to grow up. Hope she stays the course. As always, thanks for this chapter of your terrific story.

Hello friend!! Oh I've been waiting so patiently for an update. HOpoe RL is treating you OK. It does tend to get in the way now and again.

Oh Deb. It's so hard as a parent to when to let go adn let your kid make mistakes. You want to protect hem, but by over doing it you end up with, well...Michael. LOL. she's finally realizing her part in it. I can't really blame her, as it's every parent's first instinct, especially as a single parent. You don't realizr the implications until it's too late. REally gald she sees it now though and will do her best to make him grow up and become the man he should've become years ago. (I'm not holding my breath mind you. ;) ) she has Carl by her side for support. He'll gently and lovingly keep her on teh right path. He also won't put up with Michael's crap. 

I wish we could see pictures of Ted, blake and Nina in full costume! That would be a site! I have the feeling Brian will appreciate and enjoy that visual more than anyone else. Heck...He already is! I can fully imagine him snickering at the thought. Of course ted and Blake will dress up and play along with Nina. JR is going to absolutely love it too! 

You always know when a child has been raised right, and Alice made sure that Brian knoew that it was his and Justin's influence on gus that had him have such a loving and giving heart. My goodness...tears were welling reading that part. It was perfectly done. I'm coming away from this with a light heart adn a big assed smile now. thank you!!

While Michael is always a disappointment to some degree....he's sinking further adn further to a level of utter disbelief. His ability to make excuses for things, for his behavior etc is astonishing. He fought for JR, yet now...hasn't a care about it. It's all about himself, not even seeing his own part in his downfall. You know when you pull the pug in teh bath, and you see that swirl going down the drain. almost like a tiny water spout. That's how I see his life at the moment. that's the visual I often get with regards to him. I guess time will only tell if he ever gets his shit together. Stop feeling sorry for himself. Like Isaid, I'm not holding my breath, but for every one;s sake, includinghis own, I can only hope.  (Just not too soon as his troubles are always fun to read about, What can I say...I'm bitchy with regards to him. lol)

AS always it's such a gift to receive an update to this absolutely incredible story.

Hi Elaine, Sorry for the long wait for this chapter.  RL is good just had friends visiting me and did some visiting myself, all good stuff but took time from writing.  Debbie felt she always had to protect Michael but sadly that kept him from ever standing on his own.  Sadly now she is seeing the error of her ways.  Poor Linds & Mel have done nothing to impress Alice or Jennifer, they are both firmly on the side of Brian and Justin and always will be.  Mikey just deends on others to give JR a soeca Christmas and lucky for her Uncle Bri & Uncle Jus are there to make sure Santa doesn't disappoint her.  Mikey doing down the drain has a certain poetic ring to it.  I think he may pull himsefl together enough to get a job.  But where will that job be, that is the question????  I'm not seeing smooth sailing on the job front for Mikey.

Happy I am to see a new chapter.  Sadly Deb is finally seeing what all her over protectiveness has caused.  Michael expects to be rescued from whatever trouble he gets himself into.  Brian on the other hand is a happy camper.  In spite of the troubles during the past year, he's contented with his lot.  That being Justin.  Justin has a bit day planned.  Talking Alice into accepting her bonus, stopping to get stocking stuffers for the younger set, getting JR and Nina's gifts.  Wish I could have a picture of the two girls in their finery and their dolls.  Brian picking up the rest of items for the little girls and finding a few things for Ted and Blake.  Too funny.  Everyone gets a bonus!  Then we come to Michael who isn't actively looking for a job and doesn't think HE needs to get JR more gifts.  Selfish much?  So much trouble to schedule time with Gus.  At least Deb is having her usual Christmas get together.   Last day of school and Brian and Justin along with John and Peter pick Gus up before going to the diner, which is decorated for Christmas much to Gus' delight.  I'm not surprised that they come upon a young boy in need of help, or that Gus is insistent that the boy not go hungry.  Great chapter every way you look at it.

Hello my friend, I like the Yodaest start to your review.  When Deb looks at how she is treated by her other "boys" she can't help but see Michae;'s flaws.  Brian knows how much happier he is now than he was pre-Justin.  Justin got a lot done in a single day.  JR & Nina will go crazy over their princess dolls and matching dresses.  I think Nina will be happy to see King Teddy Man and Prince Daddy in their crowns & capes.  Brian learned from Justin that you get the kids on your side and you can get indulgent parents to do almost anything.  Michael depends on other people to take up the slack for him.  Luckily JR had people in her life looking out for her.  I am thinking Deb will not be able to resist helping Michael find a job.  Melanie knows she is playing in the major leagues when Jennifer comes up to bat.  Grandmom Jen hit a home room with the Christmas scheduling.  Debbie is ging to be proud showing off her new kitchen to everyone on Christmas Eve.  I think we may here more from Joe in future chapters.  Thanks, as always, for all your kind comments!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Bill

I am not sure why we are always amazed when we hear someone has raised an amazing child. President Obama spoke about a letter he received from a 6 year old who spoke about taking in the little Syrian boy who was all over the news after a bomb went off near his home and he was injured he wanted to share his toys and teach him to ride his bike. I know Brian would say this is all Justin's doing but Gus sees that his Daddy doesn't fight it so he knows it's both of them. I can't wait to see what everyone gets for the holiday maybe most of all what Brian gets Justin. I do love this chapter was just the most important 5 with only a little Deb and Alice thrown in those are always my favorite chapters can't wait till it's 7 with the babies.  Just FYI I minded the long delay but here comes my October beg fest since it's my birthday month and while I would love to demand 4 new chapters I will happily settle for 3, 2 if they are extra long. Thanks for continuing to write this I still love it.

Do you ever think that Gus is a little boy with normal curiosity.  He sees Peter or John enter or leave the pool house and wonder what that is about.  He waits till he is alone, knocks on the door, and Joan comes face to face with her seven year old child. He is let's face it, her blood grandchild.  He wants to know who this women is and she just may look at this as a do over to be kind to the child she neglected.  Gus  is sweet kind and innocent.  He would be thrilled to have a new grandmother. {if she was nice to him}

Hi my sweet Baboo, I'm really thrown by Joan,sometimes I feel bad about her life she raised her children the way she was brought up. No love -no attention, I guess that's all she knew that would be bad enough but married an abusive drunk who didn't care about anyone, it was all about him, Then the next minute I want to take her Bible and hit her in the head, to get her attention. I loved Jen telling Craig about her Thanksgiving and all family and friends having a wonderful time, when Craig thought it was just queers (stupid man) I think Alice's grandchildren calling Brian uncle and all the kids calling Jen -grandmom Jen makes her day and telling Craig about Kevin and going to his school I was surprised Craig admiited to Jen the plan his advisor delivered to him is working and moving he can walk to work, joined a gym changeing his spending habits really was working for him at work and in his life.I was surprise he actually called Brian instead of Kinney. Joan and Craig are so sad I feel bad for them they have no one, not a relative or even a friend maybe the twins can help them to be come better people and share in the new blessings, your loving Sally.

My darling Sally, always happy to see your review and know you are still reading and enjoying the story.  Joan has had a very unhappy life and she seems determined to try and make the people arounf her have unhappy lives.  I think Justin's "plans" for her may help her realize she needs to change her attitude.  We'll have to wait and see if she got the message.  Craig is lonely and startung to understad what a mistake he made with Justin.  Happy you picked up on Craig calling Brian by name insread of Kinney.  He wasn't completely comfortable doing that.  Jennifer really enjoyed letting Craig know how full her life is and how much she enjoys all the people Justin & Brian have introduced into the "family".

Wow!  Lots of confrontation in this chapter.  I'm glad that Brian backed up Justin with Joan.  She is completely delisiounal if she thinks Brian would ever pick her over Justin.

Is it possible that she is thinking about changing her attitude? Don't cross Justin when it comes to Brian. I think Justin just might make good on his warning. Nice that Brian is getting to experience fun with trains. Who wouldn't want to join in the holiday celebrations when listening to Jennifer describe all the happenings? Wonder what action Joan will take next? Kind of afraid that she may be working on a way to retaliate against Justin. Thanks for this and can't wait for the next chapter. I am feeling great, thanks!!!  Jennifer really let Craig know how full her life is and how she has so many people to love and who love her.  If those presents are not nice Craig better watch his back!!!  I suspect Joan got the message that actions have consequences.  She may try and improve her attitude before she winds up with Nurse Ratchit taking care of her.  I don't think Joan has a chnace against the team of B&J.  Thanks for the review!!!!!!!!   Bill

So much going on.  I hope Joanie tries to leave and they let her.  Then court proceedings can begin and Joanie will learn consequences.  The kids, and Brian, are going to enjoy that train set.  Craig may or may not be coming around, but I've got to admit he realizes that the changes he's had to make were for the best.  Another more than excellent chapter!!!

HI! Oh how I've been waiting for this. 

well....seems like Joan's attempt at a softer side was tyically brief. It reminds me of young Brian actually. whe he would show a softer side of himself to Justin, then make up for it later and be an asshole x5.  Justin was.............BRILLIANT! I loved every word, every nuance. (Actually, there were no nuances...he just laid out straight to her) No threats, just was blunt and to the point. told her they was it was going to be. He was right in that she needs to read the New testament rather than sticking to the old. Has always been a sore point with me. Can't stand it when people used old testament scripture to prove their point, when New Testament give it a complete swtich up. But they don't like that. It's amazing that they call themselves Christians at all. I grew up in teh anglican church...very involved and I never remember eharing words of hate. We have friends of the family who's kids were gay. Neve were they ostrasized. I mean there were old buttys of course, no getting away from them anywhere you go, but the leadership of our church was totally accepting. I guess when I see church's doing the opposite my blood boils.

anyway.....sorry, I digress.  the one thing I love about this entire story, is the conversation and iteractions between teh characters. It's like you're watching them live. They all engage each other...we see them having normal; conversations, even on little things. so realistic I van visualize it all the time. Great ixaple is the cookie scene. just the little part about Brian taking the cookies up to Justin and John thumping his forehead in realization. It's that kind of attention to details that make this so brilliant and you you such an extraordinary writer.

Now.....what the hell is up with Craig? Is he going to do the softening I though Joan was going to do? what's made him realize what all he's lost? O love that Jennifer is not fogiving here. He really doesn't deserve it at this point. He's got alot to do if he truly wants forgivness from anyone. I always taught my daughter that it's easy to say sorry. But if you truly are sorry, than you change the behaviour otherwise the apoligy is pointless. Craig's ot even at the apology stage yet. He's got a long road ahead of him. He seems kind of grateful for what Brian and Justim forced him to do re" the loan. It's like they forcd him to grow up or something.

Man..I just go on and on all the time on these reviews don't I. talk talk talk....

So exciting when you review on a non Monday!!!!!  I think Joan got a whole new appreciation of Justin.  Her life style of staying removed from other people has made her very vulnerable.  I agreee about the "Christians" who never quote Christ in all their hateful rants.  I find that extremely annoying!!!  Christ's message was love and acceptance and I don't understand why people filled with hate and prejudice even want to be identified as "Christian".  I can do you one better from Anglican - I am a product of 12 years of Catholic education.  You can never completely get over the guilt that those years instill in you!

I digressed right along with you!!!  Your comments are so kind that I am blushing sitting here at my computer, not sure ideserve such praise.  Your review will keep me smiling all day.  I am happy you enjoy the story so much.  I can hardly believe how long I have been writing this saga and it the loyal reviewers like you that keep it going.

I think Craig realized what he has lost by his behavior and by not loving and accepting his son.  Jennifer let him know how full and happy her life is.  Hard to say whether Justin will ever forgive Craig and accept him back in his life.  We know where Brian will stand on that subject.  I think Craig is surprised that the things he tried to fight B&J on actually turned out to be big benefts to him.  Maybe he wants to be friendly so they can give him some more good advice.

About time Joan got a good telling off - Justin is not someone to mess with...... I remember seeing a huge train display at Myer's at Christmas years ago - it was wonderful. I can just see the train room in my mind looking very much like that - it's unfortunate they don't do anything like that at Christmas anymore - at least not at any of the stores in Western Australia - it's all iPads, iPhones and iPods and tacky, tacky decorations - at least Gus will have old fashioned fun with his dad and of course all the others. And why do I feel Craig is up to something - for his sake he better be sincere - Justin learnt at Jennifer's knee so I can just see her making Craig regret any wrong move. Looking forward to more.

I think Joan probably has a new appreciation/fear of Justin.  Growing up we had a train platform at Christmas and so did most people I knew.  Ours was a two teir platform and we had lights in some houses.  My uncle's platform had a trolley car and real street lights so that was kind of nostalgic to write about.  I think in the past we used our imaginations more.  B&J do have the tacky decoration covered this year.  I agree that if Craig is not sincere he better watch his back because Mother Tigress Jennifer will stalk him and make him sorry.  Thanks for all the review I appreciate your support for the story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Bill

Sweet Baboo, I have a question, of course I'm all for a wonderful Christmas for ALL at Britin, but you haven't mentioned Craig recently. Of course I'm not sure what the slug is up to.If he is after Brian's and Justin's money, trying to get his way on the loan, somehow I don't think he's really trying to make nice with them. His ego is crushed his wife and daughter do find without his financial help Justin and Brian are both successful, and he's been replaced by a younger man in Tucker. He has failed at just about every thing he has tried in his life. Just wondered if we will find out about him or if we've seen the last of him. I enjoy how Brian and Justin can push his buttons for a change. Just been thinking about it. Your Sally

Darling Sally, I have been thinking about good old Craig. He is really a loser at life. Maybe he had been hanging out with Ron Peterson? Since you have expressd an interest in Craig, he will appear soon in the story. How could I refuse a request from you. Maybe Jennifer will realize what a mistake she made getting rid of Craig and throw Tucker out?? Maybe Brian will realize Craig is really who he always wanted and Justin is just a substitute??     Thanks for the Chapter.  I does seem to me that John and Peter are far less critical of Joan than their own mother, Claire.  I do remember one explanation was that Claire has refused to take any responsibility for her awful actions.  But has Joan?  Nope!  In fact, she used the very same excuse for Claire’s actions as Claire has.  What about Joan turning to drinking?  In the very beginning of the Joan’s discussion with Peter, she once again referred to Justin as ‘his boy.’  Could she be any more insulting.  I don’t think so.  Could she be any more dismissive of Justin?  No!

   How about Peter and John give their mother a little more consideration.  We learned a lot about Joan’s life.  Was Claire’s any better?   One problem I see is that everyone is better off without Claire.  It is sort of addition by subtraction.  As a reader we can see that Joan gives the story a little spice.  I don’t see how Claire, except for may a few visits and phone calls by her boy, fits this story.  Sadly, we don’t need her, and except for Joan, it seems no one cares.  It is sad.

I think that John & Peter have less expectations of Joan since she is their grandmother.  They depended more on their mother to take care of them and she let them down.  I thin Brian was often easier on Claire since he had less expectations of her as a sister.  He feel more bitter about Joan becaue again she was a mother who did not protect or really take care of her children.  I think John & Peter still have hope that their mother will own up to her mistreatment of them and not try to excuse her behavior.

As usual, I'm late to the party - ha!  And as usual, I enjoyed this chapter immensely.  Loved the banter between B and J, and how Justin can always talk Brian into things he would normally never do.  Very interesting back story with Joan; I think I both sympathized with her, but was also disgusted with her at the same time.  And I loved how the boys stuck up for their uncles.

You have really created a wonderful family unit here, despite the witch living in the guest house - ha!  As always, I will be eagerly awaiting your next update.  You could have another 100-chapter story on your hands here - ha!  Thank you once more for posting your story and sharing your talent on here.  We are very grateful.  ~Kim

Sweet Baboo, this update was wonderful. It makes me understand Joan has had a sad life, she can't express love because she never experenced it, not in her childhood nor in her marriage. I fill so sad for Joan and Brian have wanted love all their life, but never was able to reach out for it. So...you decided about Joanie huh? Not sure if she's going to warm up or not, but it's a step. My first thought was Is she going to pull a Prian. Warm up, open up and then turn around and be even worse. I guess it could go either way. At least both Peter and John are seeing things in a slightly different light yet neither of them are making excuses for her. That is top notch! A small part of me feels a bit bad for her. always has, simply because you KNOW she went through hell herself. Everything she seems to have resented about her own mother, she has become herself. Does she see it? I don't really think seh does. Most people in those situations make excuses for their own behaviour while in the same breath, point fingers at others doing the same thing. Bravo btw for having Peter be the one to begin this. To have him make the expalnations and ask the questions. It's a bit like the saying "Out of the mouths of Babes" Perhaps Peter can go where no one has gone before. (my Trekkie reference hehe) At least she's thinking about all that was said. John...so much more like Brian in his honesty. LOL. Susinct and to the point without pulling any punches. I must say though...I completely agree with him. I guess we'll just have to see what happens with all these revelations on all parts.

Justin always loving and protective, is there for both kids, making sure that Joanie didn't do any damage. and of course he's the same way with Brian. I was almost expecting Brian to fly off the handle about the kids talking to Joan. He seemd more interested than anythng else. Perhaps he is even warming up to her. Either way, IF it were to happen...it's going to take time and a lot of it. There's no way he'll turn around and trust Joan anytime soon. She's done too much harm to both him and to Claire.

Once again I'm blathering off at the mouth. This was a wonderful update. Open and more honestly from Joan was interesting. I'm defeintely looking forward to seeing what happens after this. will she have second thoughts or will there be repercussions? could go so many ways.

Hello Elaine, I tried to get this ready to post on Sunday so it would be ready for you on Monday but didn't get it done in time.  Hard to day what Joanie will do now.  Out of character for her to share so much info with Peter.   John only heard the last part of Joan's story so naturally he interperted it differently from Peter.  You are correct neither felt the story excused all the damage Joanie inflcited on her children.  Peter thougth he grandmohter wa like his mother trying to pretend nothing was actually her fault.  I think Joan is starting to see that perhaps her past plays a big part in her behavior.  I think Peter may have beeen exploring strange new worlds in Joan's mind. (Tekkie reference).

Justin just wants to be sure Joan doesnt hurt any of his loved ones.  Of course he as being a little clueless himself, not realizing how much Peter cares for him.  I think hearing about his family history, even second hand, was interesting to Brian.  Might help him understad his parents' treatment of him has roots in the past and was largely out of his control.

Think it's time Brian talked with his mother. John's wrong about her motive for telling Peter about her life. It wasn't so he'd feel sorry for her, she's just incredibly lonely. Maybe he should invite her to the open house. It would be up to her whether she accrpts Brian's olive branch. I like how Brian and Justin set aside time for them.

Hmmmmm have you found some link into my mind?  I think John came in for just the last part of Joan's story and thought she was just trying to excuse her actions.  I think Peter was correct when he thought Joan had never told anyone about the past before him.  Maybe she was feeling lonely, maybe it was the correct mix of vodka and pain pills.  Maybe she just thought it was time to tell someone.  I think it is good for B&J to set aside alone time and I think it is good for John & Peter to see it is important to not neglect your important relationships.  Thanks for taking tiem to review!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Bill

Wow wow wow wow, to infinity wow. I have read from1-16 and I loved every bit of it. I love how the boys are not taking the uncles for granted and I love Kevin he is so wonderful and I love how Gus is with him. Oooooh babies I'm excited to see how that will do and the story that will come from them . I hope Josn lightens up, I actually feel for her and she needs to let her family in and let herself realise what she is missing out on. Maybe she might come over for Christmas dinner or something. 

 

Hoe many chapter will this be, I hope it's as long as the first amazing story. I'm so excited to see more of this and cannot wait for more.

Since I'm behind on my reading again, I get to read two chapters of your wonderful story. That puts a smile on my face!

I really like the conversation between Roxanne and Jennifer. It's so evocative of the way a mother would feel when someone else suddenly seems more special to her son. I had to smile at what Jennifer said about Justin in regard to Brian. So very true! LOL

I laughed at the way Brian and Justin took care of the Nosy Parker in the Liberty Air lounge.

Did you miss me yesterday? LOL. Twas a holiday here, so I wasn't on a computer so here I am on a Tuesday instead. 

Great update and thoroughly enjoyable. I just love all the family intereactions you portray in this story. Iknow, I know...It's all been said before, but it remains true every chapter. It's heartwarming and give hope. 

I keep wondering if at some point in time Joan will come around. I know she wasn't involved in this chapter, but each time she's mentioned, I always wonder....I always hope for her sake, if not for the sake of the rest of teh family, especially the boys, that she will slowly see what's right in front of her face. That love surpasses judgement and hate.

Not surprised by Micheal's attitude. I was surprised that he gave up so wuickly though. lol. I'm sure there is more to come from our favorite little whiner.

I'm looking forward to Christmas withe the Kinney and their extended family. the love adn warmth surrounding this ever growing family, with a few touches of angst thrown in there for good measure.

I loved that Jennifer called Brian on his use of greeting her as "Mother Taylor".  Nice conversation.  Good for Debbie putting Michael in his place.  Wonder where he will be spending Chirstmas?  Home alone I hope.  Now as to Mother Kinney what do you have planned for her.  She needs to either go home or melt that hateful heart.    Great update.

My Sweet Baboo,  you did it again, an amazing update, the day spent with Jen and Gus, and Kevin. The way it was written you see the boys baking and decorating cookies, I loved the way Kevin ask Jen if his mother was right about the decorating with sugar crystals and Jen said yes, but I'm sure sugar was spread everywhere. Thought Jen seeing Gus and Kevin were sleeping butt to butt and hugging their stuffed animals was so cute, and Gus wondering if daddy knew a walk was the same as a hike. Have we seen the last of Craig? I think the only reason he's interested in Justin is because B&J's wealth. I also wonder about Lindsay and her wanting to help with the painting in the children's rooms, I know she is some what better but I won't be surprisr if it isn't payback because Justin fired her. Will charges be filed against her parents? So many questions and I want to know more about the babies. your Sally

Darling Sally, what could be better than Grandmom Jen spending the day with her boys.  Grandmothers are mysterious creatures that are great sources of love and information about the world.  Moms are familiar creatures useful for day to day life.  I often accuse another reviewer of being in my mind now you are doing the same thing.  I was just thinking about Craig this morning while I was walking in the park - or was I on a hike??  We may hear more about him soon.  I am undecided about Craig, not sure if he is truly evil or just misguided.  The mural painting hasn't happened yet, more about Lindsay over Christmas.  I don't think there will be any charges filled against Ron & Nancy.  Not sure about the statute of limitations and Lindsay is too fragile to be exposed to a court battle.  The babies are coming in the next story.  This story will end  in 3 or 4 chapters and I will start "To Have and To Hold" which will begin with the twin's arrival.  Always love seeing your comments!!!!  Thanks for the review, your sweet B

In this chapter we see clearly the difference between Debbie and Jennifer. Debbie has done some wonderful things for Brian. Maybe even save his life. But that was then, and now is now. I resented, and so did Justin, her remark that Brian probably went to a bar while Justin walked around the museum. You see, what bothers me is that she knows better. Brian is a successful businessman, who is brilliant, creative, etc. etc. Whether with or without Justin, Brian would enjoy a museum, would enjoy a good book, maybe even enjoy stories here at MW. Who knows? I just don’t quite understand her continually putting down Brian. She knows better.

 

As I said in my last feedback, as compared to Debbie, Jennifer does that extra thing to make people feel good. As an example she went out and bought the two boys aprons and chef hats. It made them feel special. How does Debbie make Brian feel special? Jennifer is what Debbie should be.

Hi David, I always enjoy your reviews, you always have an interestng point of view. Makes me think about the characters and how I make them behave in the story. I think there shouldn't be any doubt about where Mikey got his aversion to change! I think maybe because Brian always acts like things come easily to him that most people don't realize how hard he works and how important things are to him. I belive that people should do nice things because it is the right thing to do, you shouldn't expect excessive gratitude or lifelong devotion.  Debbie has done nice things but she needs to let it go.  I don't think Justin changed Brian I just think he loves him and allows Brian to be himself and encourages him to be himself.

Jennifer is the grandmother everyone should have.  I suspect she has been wanting grandchildren for a while and now that some have appeared she is making the most of it.  The bys are reaping the benefits of all that pent up Grandmother love.  I suspect when the new little girl arrives she is going to have a bunch of folks spoiling her.  Glad you enjoyed this chapter and thanks for all your reviews!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Bill

I loved Gus and Kevin with Grandma Jen. The projects even making sure Kevin had gluten free bread and cookies. I also loved them admitting jR is not the easiest child to deal wth. My favorite part though was Brian and Justin annoying the women in the Libérty Lounge. Also Debbie getting a glimpse at the Brian Justin knows and loves. More soon please.

Grandmom Jen and her boys, an unbeatable combination.  Alice gets some vredit for gluten free cooike dough and bread, even Grandmom Jen has limits.  JR: stubborn genes from her mother and whiney genes from her father, how could she anything other than difficult.  Justin tried to tell Debbie that some consistency was needed but I don't think she got the message.  B&J let the busybody really have it.  It was juvenile but lots of fun.  Glad you enjoyed the latest chapter.  Always look forward to your comments!!!!  Thanks for all your support.  Bill

All the fun Gus and Kevin have with grandmom Jen reminds me of growing up.  My grandmother was just like this and then my mother was the same with my boys.  Baking cookies together during the holidays.  Now I am trying really had to keep the tradition with my granddaughter.  I was proud of Justin making Deb understand that Brian is a different person.  I laughed at the lady in the airport lounge.  The boys had a good time with her.  Great update of my favorite story.

It's Monday, and you know what that means!! I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!! lol

Your update was a balm to my soul this week. Have been enjoying catching up with a lot of fics this weekend, most of which had a lot of angst to them. I enjoy that thoroughly, don't get me wrong, but having this to read calmed me down. It's always always such a joy to read an update. I know...I've said it a million times, but it stands true every time I read a new update.

I feel for Roxanne. It's always difficult to let go, especially when it initially happens. when they start discovering their independance. I can see it being particulalry hard on her since she's been Kevin's main source for so long. It huts a bit, but it's far too benficial for the child to discover this. She'll really grow to appreciate it once she has more free time. LOL. Having someone so dependant on you is......tiring!! :) 

The boys are becoming real little men aren't they. Not many young men like them would be as helpful as they are. It's so heartwarming to see their growth.

Glad that Justin was able to make Deb open her eyes a bit more. She really needs to sto passuming things and see Brian for who he is now rather than who he used to be, or who Michael assumes he is. He has become a wonderful husband and father and Deb needs to really see that. I'm sure she will get better especua=ially now that she's aware. May just take time. Old habits die hard as they say.

Not sure about this whole issue with JR...definitly some concern there. She definitely seems like a spoiled little brat, but she is also in desparate need of some stability. Her father is useless and her moms......nuff said.

Hello Elaine, I made sure to post this last night before I went to bed so you would have something to read this morning.  You can tell me it is a joy to read my story as many times as you want, I will never get tired of hearing it.  I think Roxanne knows how lucky she is to have the Taylor-Kinneys in her life but still dislikes her little boy wanting to spend time with someone else.  Grandmom Jen is the Pied Piper of the family, all the boys following where she leads.  I believe John & Peter are thrilled at their life with the uncles.  They know how much better they have it instead of living with their drug addicted mother.  They want to be sure they don't do anything to screw things up plus they love Grandmom Jen and she loves them.

Justin is always trying to make people understand how wonderful Brian is.  He had his mother convinced but Deb is a harder nut to crack but Justin keeps at it every chance he gets.  No need to look too far to see where Michael learned his averson to change and the inabiility to see change.  I agree JR does not have much stability in her life.  When you can't get a five year old to do what you, want watch out for the teen years, they are going to be ROUGH.  I am always impressed by anyone saying they re-read the whole saga!!!  thank you thank you thank you for your review!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Bill

Great afternoon read while having my cuppa.... Brian and Justin are sooooo bad - well the woman at the airport deserved it. It's good for Deb to finally realize that Brian isn't 14 any more. Love Jen's attitude to everyone. Kevin is such a cutie.

My wonderful friend Sally, after 115 chapters and 528,781 words I can forgive not remembering a character.  I have made mistakes with names and often have to go back and find a character name (my story notes are not well organized) so it is not a big deal fror you to forget a character.  Charlotte was also in San Francisco for the show at the Baily Gallery (had to check the notes for the gallery name!).  All your great support makes you a winner for me in any game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    That was a kind of strange chapter.  I don’t understand

Charlotte.  I thought she was an astute business person.  The old

expression is: ‘don’t burn your bridges’.  Well she sure did burn

her Justin/Charlotte Bridge.  Good bye to her, and now that we

really got to know her …good riddance.

    Joan seems to have mellowed.  The problem I have is that I

really don’t really know her, I don't like her or even feel sorry for

her.  I do know what she has done, what she has said, and as far

as I am concerned, they can just pack her up and send her back to

her house to live alone or die alone. 

   Now Jen is Jen.  She is still a wonderful person.  I can just picture

Gus and Kevin with their Chef Hats and Aprons.  That is what

makes Jen extra special.  She just does the extra thing that makes

people (in this case Gus and Kevin) happy.

I think Charlotte was upaet about the loss of income without Justin art shows.  She has burned that bridge down for sure!  It could just be the pain pills that Joan is on.  The last reviewer wants to see Joan change but I'm not sure which way to go with her.  Gus & Kevin love their Grandmom Jen.  I don't think they much care what they do with her as long as they spend time together.  Joan would probably be unhappy that Jennifer had them help with cooking.  Thanks for the revew, hope the enxt chapter is better for you!!!!!!!  Bill

Always glad to see a new chapter, no matter how long the wait--it is worth it! The nerve of Charlotte! Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face! Not only did she deeply offend Justin, she's on Brian's bad list, too. Not a fun place to be. She may learn that in time. I was hoping Kevin would make an appearance. I love the interaction between Gus and Kevin. Jennifer is such a good grandma...so patient with the two boys. Enjoyed this chapter so much and look forward to the next update. Thank you!

Thanks for being patient!!  Charlotte was cincerned about making less money from Justin and now she will make none, goodbye nose!!  I love Gus & Kevin myself.  Kevin is one of my favorite original characters, he is just all love.  I think Gus & Kevin are happy to spend time with Grandmom Jen no matter what they are doing.  I could picture Gus taking bowls over to dumo into the pot with his chef's hat and apron and Kevin stirring all the contents of the pot also with his hat and apron on.  A great adventure for both boys before getting cozy and reading Christmas stories.  Sounds like a great day.  Thanks for all your nice comments!!!!!!  Bill

You were missed but summer I always expect substantial lag time from you between chapters. Buh bye Charlotte don't let the door hit you if you would have played that better when you found out about the babies you might still have a job.

i love how Brian and Justin treated Carl and Debbie it was sweet. Debbie is going to be so surprised when she see her present why do I see a family dinner there before the holidays. 

I like how Gus as any typical kid is just excited to do anything new especially when his cousins are involved.

i am kind of curious now what presents Brian and Justin will get each other and maybe more what they will give the boys .

can the witch be home before the holidays happen that seems like it could be Brian's most favorite present.

We have been at this for a long time, you know me pretty well!  Summer is tough for me.  It doesn't get fully dark here until about 10 PM so that does mean lots of outside time for me.  I have friends coming to stay this week so that suts back on the writing time as well.  I will promise there will be at least one more chapter in July.  The boys and Jennifer are keeping Gus away from Joan.  It was a nice weekend for B&J and D&C with no Mikey to screw things up.  The only thing I think about Christmas gifts is that Brian's gift to Justin will be extravagent.  Poor Joan hasn't caused any problems, you are very mean about her but I think everyone will want her home before Christmas.  Always makes me happy to see your comments!!!!!  Thanks for being such a loyal reviewer!!!!   Bill

Another great chapter, Bill!  I continue to admire how you place such intricate details in your stories. It really does help me to picture what is going on.  Joan's icy demeanor seems to be breaking just a bit, but with someone like her, I know it would be a very gradual process.  I will be interested to see what direction that takes.

Loved the short 'lesson' on the deer poop - ha! Glad that the men got some 'alone' time, and I love the 'take charge' Justin you portray in this 'verse.

Hi Kim, always happy to see comments from you!!!!  Glad to know you are still enjoying my saga.  I'm not sure that Joan will ever change, still reading the bible but not learning much from it.  Gus was pretty fascinated by the "smoking" poop and I think a little disappoinyed that a hike is just a long walk.  I felt like a bad author when YumYum pointed out how long I was taking to update.  I certainly don't want YumYum to be angry with me!!!!!!  Thanks for your review, I enjoy MW!!!!!!!   Bill

WTG Justin! Firing Charolette was probably the best thing he could do for his career. When the hell did she turn into "Lindsay the Sequel," trying to passive-aggressively guilt Justin into doing what she wants? Lord knows he doesn't need another one of those manipulative harridans in his life. I LOVED the way he handled her. Humph! Boy toy indeed! 

So glad that Carl surprised Debbie and in turn surprised Brian and Justin at Justin's show. I also love that she can make Brian so uncomfortable when it's in a good way.

I love the "Grandmom Jen" moments with the boys!

I think Charlotte is just upset about the decrease in her income without Justin's art shows.  She is more concerned about herself than Justin's career.  Brian does hate when people publically call him out for his kindness and generosity.  Grandmom Jen is one of my favorite parts of my story.  I think her boys just enjoy being with her no matter what they are doing.  I can remember as a little boy enjoyung watching my grandmother wash dishes.  She had a special powder to take marks off the silverware - that was a huge adventure!!  Sorry the update tok so long but happy to know you enjoyed it.  I enjoyed reading your review, thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Bill
